Okay so after reading all of these posts and seeing this I feel like a overclockable 1440p monitor or a Dell S2716DG would be best

However!

After reading this post I feel like this person might be right and that getting a monitor that has "Gaming" in the name I will be losing performance and paying more money however if I was to get a cheaper "work" monitor I would be getting much better performance in general.

Also if I was to get a monitor like the S2716DG I would still have 2 1080p 60hz monitors on the left and right of it except now my center monitor will have G Sync and I will need to return my r9 390 and get the weaker gtx 970.

Sure, it's good at gaming, but, that's about it. Even the viewing angles are poor compared to my other IPS monitors. Guess that's the coating or something, but, come'on. We're getting taken big time on gaming monitors. Especially with Gsync.

When I pulled the xb270hu off my main rig I asked my ol'lady if she wanted it to replace one of her $120 on sale 22"/1080p/IPS monitors. She didn't. Reason being those $120 monitors look far better then this $800 gaming monitor. Those monitors look like I paid $400 plus for. This XB270hu looks like I picked it up for cheap off some teenager.

I feel like the best choice and the best thing I could do is to get the best looking 1440p or maybe just maybe a 4k monitor from rdr09s advice and then also have 2 1080p 60hz monitors on the sides for increased productivity.
While I would love the increased hz for my most played games Csgo and dota, I still do play lots of other games and would like them to look good and even more so my recreational video editing and photoshop and then work with modelling for engineering would be better at a higher resolution.

I use 4K with my 2 290s at stock gaming. 1440 for work. It only takes seconds to switch between rez.

I have been considering these monitors Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Also I think that something I might want if you guys think is a good option is the 4k 24 inch dell monitor
That way I will have 3 24inch monitors instead of one bigger one, a really high resolution so everything looks good and ITS CHEAPER!

Which monitor should I go for?

Another new question for whoever is following the thread
Do you agree with the statement that "gaming monitors" are not worth it?
In the fact that what they are offering is not worth the price

That 4K Freesync looks like the best choice. A bit pricey but it's got Freesync. Never used it, so can't comment on that. I only have a 28 in as well. I sit less than 3 ft from my monitor. so, everything still kinda huge. 3 4Ks, that's gonna need a lot of horsepower. You don't plan on gaming eyeinfinity, right? I don't think it will work. You gonna need to wait for the next gen cards.

Edit: Also, in some games, it will be hard to see infos like maps. For example . . .

Yea one of the major reasons im turned away from 4k is the scaling and reading is kinda hard.
Im not gonna get 3 4ks, only 1 if I do get one of these. The 2 other monitors I will use would be 1080p 60hz

I would never get one of those overclockable monitors. Overclocks aren't guaranteed and who knows if they'll be like Overlord Computer who randomly shut down over night, and now anyone with one is screwed.

Just that one game on my list. others are fine . . .

On regular desktop, i switch to 1440. Like now.

Edit: Forget 1080, AMD struggles in low rez. DX12 is our savior!

Wait, you play Skyrim? If you do, you'll be blown away. hold on to your seat. lol

Do you just switch the resolution in windows?
and for the more important question, What monitor are you using? I don't really want freesync because I might use Nvidia in my next update.

I only switch rez using windows. takes like seconds. i have a cheap acer tn, 2ms. got it for $355 on sale.

I'll get that one with freesync, though, the only game i experience tearing is Titanfall. vsync helps.

Edit: Even if the monitor has the Freesync feature, I think you can still use a Nvidia card if ever. Just turn it off. Don't quote me on that, though.

I would do 1440p then. I used yamakasi catleaps and found them really nice for gaming. 1440p has become more affordable at 60hz too.
