Looking at $509 with tax at microcenter for everything

M.2 120GB SSD
Gigabyte Mobo that supports 220w out the box
AMD 9590
Thermaltake Ring water cooling

Zen comes out I spend another $400 for mobo proc and ram. That rig becomes the server I always wanted.

What ya think guys?
No to the 9590, no to the Gigabyte mobo, no to the water cooler.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-8370E 3.3GHz 8-Core Processor ($149.99 @ Micro Center)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($74.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($99.99)
Total: $324.87
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

That will do 4.8GHz at much lower voltage than the 9590 will sleep at. biggrin.gif
The water cooler is your preference, of course, but the D14 is so quiet and works wonderfully.

Honestly it would make sense for you to upgrade to an i7-3770K before going to an FX-8xxx or FX-9xxx. For both performance and cost. Unless you really just want to try AMD right now, wait for Zen.

How well the D14 works depends on the case and its fans. If the hot exhaust isn't getting out of the case it will run hot. At 4.8 ghz it will play all modern games quite well and will even do fine on the old single thread games.

Ok the 9590 I can concede. The Gigabyte board I want for the USB 3.1 and a couple other features. Ok the water cooler I admit was more of a fashion or case theme I'm going for.

That motherboard is actually pretty nice feature-wise, and I can understand the aesthetic value of an AIO cooler too.

This mobo just came out and it seems like a true board to rule all needs. M.2 on AM3+, USB 3.1 and some other current features.

It has 8-phase power delivery, though I'm not sure if that means 8+2 or 6+2. Either way, not too shabby.

Why is a 970 $120 when 990fxa is cheaper
