pop rivet interfering with side panel.

Thread Starter
hey. just finished painting my case, and after assembly i saw that i have a little gap between my side panels caused by a pop rivet. is there a way to grind it down a little or something like that without weakening it too much? HAF 912.

I would put some tape on a pair of pliers or the case part itself, maybe even a thin cloth between the pliers and the rivet, and see if you can compress it more. Grinding will likely result in failure of the rivet. Although a file might do if it is not much that needs to be removed. Would have to touch up the paint job.

Remove the pop rivet entirely, and use some JB Weld or another epoxy to fix the two pieces of metal together. Rivets are used in mass production because they can bond two pieces of sheet metal together in a hurry on an assembly line - not because it's the best way to hold two pieces together.

Is JB Weld paintable?
