Yeah, unless OP is using programs that benefit from HT, i see no point in buying a processor $100 more for 3% diffence in fps at most, this is a lot of cash, you could double your ram, buy a new peripheral or a higher end GPU non reference version

it isnt a 3%,thats an average of 10% but not all the games had such low advantage for SMT...


and the difference isnt even 100usd.. an used processor is way cheaper rolleyes.gif

Yes, there is a bigger difference while not OCed, but i highly doubt OP will buy a $250+ processor(retail) and GPU maybe thrice that expensive and leave everything stock, as for the prices i always use retail for universality sake unless OP provides deals he can have access to.

Finally i do not think OP will play his games at highly cpu-bound resolutions like 1280x720 with a dual or single flagship card

well in some games quad core might be fine, then an i7 isnt a need

im sadly currently deployed overseas so i am not near my computer to give any benchmarks. being stuck on a laptop for months makes me miss my computer lol. which is why i brought up the topic just because id have extra money when i get back.
