[zauba] Polaris 11 listing - Page 4

Tahiti, Cape Verde, Pitcairn, Bonaire, Hawaii.
GK104, GK106, GK110, GK107.

In the next gen AMD just did not have new GPUs except Fiji at the top. For 2014-2015 this is how it was

GM107, GM204, GM206, GM200
Fiji and rebrands.

With the Polaris gen AMD will be back to a full stack refresh and will have atleast 4 GPUs for 2016-2017. AMD will begin with a 100-110 sq mm entry level Polaris 10, 300+ sq mm flagship (for 2016). They will follow it up in early 2017 with a 200+sq mm and a 450+ sq mm big die GPU in mid-late 2017. I doubt AMD is going to cave in as you expect to.

As I already stated:

Fury X: June 2015
290X: October 2013
7970: Dec 2011
6970: Dec 2010

980 Ti: June 2015
980: Sept 2014
780 Ti: Nov 7 2013
780: May 2013
680: March 2012
580: Nov 2010

It's worked well for Nvidia. We may see Polaris and Pascal flagships launch roughly at the same time but I wouldn't doubt that Nvidia will drop a 3rd Pascal flagship when AMD drops their 2nd Polaris flagship. Nvidia knows how to play the game.

So its finally showing up - Is this the next gen AMD flagship with HBM2. The pricing seems to indicate its a high end part. The timing also aligns with Samsung's high volume production of HBM2 announced in mid-Jan.

https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-begins-mass-producing-worlds-fastest-dram-based-on-newest-high-bandwidth-memory-hbm-interface

Obviously Samsung would have had HBM2 pre-production or engineering samples much earlier for AMD to have taped out Polaris 11. I am guessing AMD will have Polaris 11 with HBM2 launching in mid-late Q3 surely. Let the next gen contest begin. thumb.gif

The problem is that when NVidia releases before AMD, they sell more cards... when they release after, they sell more cards... When they release random mid-range cards in between release cycles, they sell more cards. They really can't do much wrong in the eyes of the majority of consumers.

Unless AMD can beat them in performance by a very sizeable margin, and have it last for more than a few months, this is likely not to change.

I think everybody is forgetting about the GF/IBM deal. GF received IBM's 14nm process as well, which according to: http://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1324343 "The combinations of dense memory, scalable power budgets and SoCs up to 600 square millimeters strongly point to these IEDM features being available on IBM silicon from Global," Doherty told us. "And possibly available to broader Global customers. What is not yet known is whether these technologies will be build upon the Samsung suite, or might become an alternative FinFET offering from Global." AMD may have access to IBM tech.

I'd love to go back to amd, hopefully they release a card that can do 1440p 144hz with everything turned up

Upon receiving some pointers from members here it appears this IS in fact new data! Unfortunately I'm not as good at comparing model numbers as some people. tongue.gif
