Almost the same price? Where did you find a H220-X for almost €80/$90? That would be a mad bargain.

And what horizontal case is 160 mm high? A 4U server case isn't even that high.

Most of the cube styles with a horizontal tray have quite a bit of clearance, Core X series, Caselabs Mercury series etc.

I am not quite sure why someone would use these types of behemoths over an AiO liquid cooling kit. Do they cool a lot better?

Aesthetics and noise would be my guess. No fears of pump noise (or failure) and quite a few would argue that a big ol blinged out heatsink is more attractive (or manly!) than a little plastic square and some tubes.

Well for example I work from home, and it could be pretty grim if my system were to overheat / auto-shutdown on me due to a pump failing or even a fan failing on an air cooler. With the FT02 case's 180mm fans blowing from the bottom, both fans on my Thermalright Silverarrow could fail and not only would I not crash, I wouldn't notice the difference. Probably wouldn't even notice the difference much during gaming with both fans removed.

Reliability would be the main reason I'd say you go with a massive heatsink vs AIO.

I wonder if this will actually perform well. Heavy air coolers don't mean that they'll perform well. We learned that from the DeepCool Assassin II (1300g no fans - performs around D14 territory). I also find it odd that they chose 340W. Anand's little test lab has a thermal output of 340W, so I'm guessing that they've already tested it. Maybe they decided to market it that way because it could handle that load like most of the top end coolers that are out there...

Reliability is always an extremely important reason. Makes sense!
