[WIP] **** Snef Tropical Voodoo ***** - Page 3

Snef! Amazing looking build so far! After looking through Tropical Voodoo and Toxic Snow, I'm experiencing an itch that only a casemod project can scratch.

Any thoughts given towards lighting for this one? The white and tropical blue would look very choice with some purple/pink/orange lighting for a "sunset" effect.

What kind of paint do you use for painting fans (gloss or matt+polish or…),
and in your scheme of cooling all fans are working on outlet this is so conceived?

PS: if not more difficult, where I can see the painting process EK-V'fans (GT)?

Thanks
painting these Vardar are exact same process as GT to paint, same lock pin, bearings and springs

I use high glossy blue from Rust-oleum, Painters touch 2x paint

Thanks, the owner want white lightning, in fact the only thibg why he called it Tropical Voodoo will be all "Tiki Man" graphic I will put on build everywhere
if it was me , white and blue are cold color and for my taste don't fit very well with hot tropical theme
but more I build this one more I see what he have in his head and I like it

and the coolant will be the middle one, very hard choice between far left and middle, all color on right are to green for my taste

the only board he painted with plasti-dip is a Z97 Sabertooth armor and some parts of a Windforce 3 GPU

the board he destroyed is a Rampage V Extreme and its with regular paint if I remember

I already did one board with Plasti-dip 2 year ago and the child use it everyday for 2 year now and still work like new, hope it will be the same with this one

Yep I knew he destroyed a pretty good board by painting it blue.

So do you fill all the slots with business cards before you spray? I really like how you did that there biggrin.gif

*edit* Speaking of paint, they sell paint for Aluminum. If you can get that northbridge heatsink down to the shiney metal, you can spray it with that awesome Anodize blue paint to match all your fittings. Dupli-Color sells some stuff called METALCAST that we used under the hood of my buddies EVO 7. Man, that car looks amazing under the hood.

Food for thought biggrin.gif

nope I simply mask all thing , keep in mind its not regular paint, its simply a layer of rubber
if you don't like it, you can peel off but you need to put enough layer to remove it, I knw it weird rolleyes.gifbiggrin.gif

here some pics of the previous one I did 2 year ago, used the exact same process to do this one

Ah nice! I have worked with Plasti-Dip before. So you just tape off all the basic stuff. Because I would imagine Since Plasti Dip is a latex paint, it would not be conductive, so if you got it in any of your slots, they would not work.

I ruined a set of Proline wheels a couple years back. But I also learned how to use the paint, the thicker the better. It got stuck (to this day) in the lug nut holes. Bad idea to use Plasti-Dip on "rough" and "porous" material.

You may have missed it before in my edit. They sell paint from Dupli-Color called METALCAST. It is a "Anodize" paint. If you can get the top layer off your heatsinks (because I see the red and gray southbridge), to where you can see the shiny metal, you can hit it with that paint and almost guarantee results similar to your fittings. Something to look into biggrin.gif
