Its just unnecessary there is nothing bad with it so if you want to go with a 750 watt for $20 you can do that if you want.
I own a 750 watt G2 myself and its in the system i am using right now.

If your board does have the grey and black ram slots like the pictures show (same as mine) then look at the bottom left of the board on the PCB and see what revision number it is as mine is Rev 1.2 and does not need to be modded and Westmere is a drop in socket support with a the right bios update.

I don't play fallout4 just World of Tanks /Ships and Armored Warfare .. but I have no issues playing games like BF 4 or Crysis 3 .. here is the kind of performance you should get from it.
