CPU Fan Question (Need Quick Response)

Thread Starter
I have the NH-L9i Low profile cooler and want to change it to a 25mm thick fan

I was wondering which would be better

Color is not a problem either.

The NF-A9 PWM would be better suited for the heatsink bacause of the higher static pressure than Nf B9 Noctua Redux 1600 RPM.
The blade design is a dead giveaway.

NF-A9 PWM
46.4 CFM
Static Pressure 2.28

Nf B9 Noctua Redux 1600 RPM.
37.9 CFM
Static Pressure 1.61

Dude, I cant recommend the noctua cooler depending on ur cpu.
I had a i7 6700k and it wasnt enough.

I did extensive research and it turned out that the noctua isnt that good!
Besides chaning the fan wont help it, some website did a test on that.

Before running out and getting a new fan, have you tried reversing the fan so it pulls air up and away form mobo & CPU instead of pushing it toward them? I've found more often than not using the fan to pull air up from cooler give significantly lower temps than pushing air into cooler.

Reason is pushing air in through cooler means hot air coming out toward motherboard turns out, hits RAM, GPU, I/O houseings etc. turning up past cooler & fan and is sucked back into fan.

With fan pulling out of cooler air flows over motherboard, up into cooler, fan and out side vents.

Even on open bench testing just turning the fan often lowers mobo and CPU temps by 5-8c

If we look at both at similar rpm (1550rpm vs 1600rpm) they have pretty much the same NF-A9 is actually a little less pressure and airflow. But I would probably get the NF-A9 because the additional 400rpm gives added performance. Don't believe the noise level ratings. They are are taken in open airflow environment. In use they will be much louder.

That chart is wrong Static pressure is 2,28 and air flow is 78

The chart you are using is with the low noise adapter on

http://noctua.at/en/nf-a9-pwm.html

Under specs you will see the LNA is the same as the chart

You are correct.
Look closely at what I said; "If we look at both at similar rpm (1550rpm vs 1600rpm) they have pretty much the same". The chart is only to the performance at similar rpm to are near identical at similar speeds ( just like I said) and 'the additional 400rpm gives added performance' (just as I said).
