And the hard facts are, It made 0 difference at all in gaming for me.

Single 980Ti - that's why.

Or the fx 8 is as good as the i5/i7 for much cheaper. With same gpu a fx 8 is at most 5-10% slower. Not the massive difference the Intel fans with no AMD experience know anything about besides spouting Intel sponsored benchmarks

Funny me and CSS both own i5, i7, and fx 8 and have done tests side by side with exact settings and the Intel blind fans call us liars and find reasons to claim our tests are biased or irrelevant. Even though we use these systems daily

Yes, especially in the op's case. now, just to be clear, we are talking about a 5820K here. like i tried to say, even with a single 980 Ti, these cpus will work. With two, of course you'll pick the the 5820K.

@op, if you really want to upgrade this late, might as well get a system that uses DDR4. I am sure that you can still use them for your next up
grade if ever. My DDR3s for my AMD and Intel rigs came from my X58 system.

There's no need for a cooler or an expensive motherboard if you're going to run that CPU.

i5 6400 will not overclock. Especially since intel is forcing mb manufacturers to remove bclk overclocking for non k

Uwotm8?

It gets absolutely shrekt on CPU bound games that use 4 or less cores. Particularly RTS/MMO games such as SC2.

http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/1128/bench/CPU_01.png

someone was saying i3 is going to struggle in the new TR, i do not understand the misinformation.

FX 8350 is NOT a competitor to the i5 / i7 lineup it can only compete with an i3 (Gaming). Comparing it beyond that is like comparing a Dodge Charger to a BMW 7 Series. It is more than FIVE YEARS OLD now, you cannot expect it to hold up to anything. AMD's CPU division hasnt made a profit in more than a year due to this particular product being so crap that it has dragged the company to nearly inevitable death.

By defending the FX 8 series you are saying that the consumer market is foolish, the benchmarks are paid for by Intel and AMD's financial statements are a lie and Illuminati is confirmed. It will run things fine but it is less value for the money as compared to an i3 except for very niche situations like rendering. When you buy that stuff you get less for your money so it is a really bad price / performance chip.

I am sure there will be a group of people defending the Microsoft Zune or Windows Vista but that does not change the fact that they were horrible products like the FX lineup.

It is as simple as not updating your Bios, intel cannot force anything and here in Canada you save almost as much as cost of a z170 board by going 6400 instead of 6600k which is pretty huge (120$)

Thread Starter
After reading over the topic and watching/reading a ton of reviews. While going to a 4790k would be a better choice so I could reuse my ram.I'm really leaning on the 6600k since I was planing in upgrading my ram anyway..granted after watching every video on the division beta people using a 8350/6600k paired with a 970..it was pretty far spread around a 15fps difference with the 6600k hitting a solid 60 whilst the fx was bouncing from 40 to 60 the whole time.Granted the game was in beta and I actually played the beta and I had the same problems with fps drops and jitter.
