5820k vs 5930k is just some PCI-E lanes. Your second card would run at x8 I believe.

If you got the gas money goto micro center, there x99 deals are killer right now.

EDIT:

You also might want to just use that single 390X for a while and wait for modern cards to come out. I bought mine to hold me off. Adding a second 390X is a lot of heat + 375W of PSU horse power.

I did this real quick off the store I live near by(40 mins). Some reason in this part of NJ they only do 3.5% sales tax which is nice.

Subtotal $1,128.92
Tax $39.51
Grand Total $1,168.43

Same set up that I got, except it has the 1200W corsair PSU and the 390X is an open box one (-$50) rolleyes.gif

See if you can do better online eh

I think I know what I'm going to do.
I'm gonna hold off on the 390x
I am going to grab the 5930k with
MSI X99A SLI PLUS LGA 2011-v3
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200
and using remaining 300 for case/cooling

Nice choice. Built something similar but with a 5820K. Love that motherboard. Go 4K!

Edit: To be safe, check the motherboard's site and see if the rams will match the board. I am sure they will but check anyways if you haven't. Also, if going air cooling, make sure the cooler will fit and not hit those rams. I recommend an AIO with 240 rad.

I don't believe that MSI mobo has an OC socket(2083?) pins on it. Less of uncore overclocking. (I know ASUS boards have it and newer gigabyte ones.)

The 5930K goes for $500 at microcenter($80 less) and then if you get a mobo there's another $20 off as well.

Microcenter doesn't have much in the ram department though, so that set is pretty good.

I dunno if you're aiming for the XFX because of price but they don't have cooling for the VRM2 and it gets really spicy. MSI card has really good cooling. I traded a XFX back in just to get the MSI 390X

Oh, well to keep it simple go ahead for it. No matter what I did I couldn't keep VRM2 temps low on that card, I even bought that gelid heatsink kit, tried copper enzo ones. Nada, not even with fan blowing on it.

MSI card has a plate that covers ram + VRM2. VRM1 is attached to main heatsink.

Also I know you don't believe in CPU costing more than GPU, but in this current time it's not a bad thing. CPU will be future proofed as crap. 4.5GHZ and 6 cores i7 FTW, with quad channel. My buddy still rocks his 920 biggrin.gif

I just dunno if you should really look into that second 390X unless you REALLY want to. Those newer cards are JUST right around the corner(delicious newer HBM2 memory).

390X doesn't have much choice for water cooling either, which is really unfortunate.

I come from having two 7950's in crossfire, and I will gladly say the hassles of getting multi card AMD set-ups to work really well(NO MICRO STUTTERS) is pretty darn hard. Dunno what the current state is with 390X and Fury X. I've learned my lesson and believe that having a single card would be most ideal, just to not have any problems.

It might just be the one you had? I have a pretty strong Clock on my xfx(20% for core and Memory at 1680) and it doesn't go over 70c Furmark/valley/firestrike
