How long did you run furmark for? Is your aux voltage 1.05v stock?

I know I sound pretty buzz killy right now but I'm just trying to save you from some serious impulse buying. I'm going to have a hard time with my tax refund check coming in soon, and i'm going to do my best to wait for next gen cards. Probably gonna buy one of those sick as tits Samsung M.2 SSD's though.

You contact Noctua and they will send you 2011v3 mounting kit.
http://noctua.at/en/nm-i2011-mounting-kit.html
The case is bad and better options like Fractal Define R5 or Define S. Phanteks Evolv is another good pick.
PSU is the G1 which is bad choice. You want G2 or P2.

+1 on the fractal design R5 or S. R5 if you have a LOT of drives, S if you don't.

MSI card has a plate that covers ram + VRM2. VRM1 is attached to main heatsink.

Also I know you don't believe in CPU costing more than GPU, but in this current time it's not a bad thing. CPU will be future proofed as crap. 4.5GHZ and 6 cores i7 FTW, with quad channel. My buddy still rocks his 920 biggrin.gif

I just dunno if you should really look into that second 390X unless you REALLY want to. Those newer cards are JUST right around the corner(delicious newer HBM2 memory).

390X doesn't have much choice for water cooling either, which is really unfortunate.

I come from having two 7950's in crossfire, and I will gladly say the hassles of getting multi card AMD set-ups to work really well(NO MICRO STUTTERS) is pretty darn hard. Dunno what the current state is with 390X and Fury X. I've learned my lesson and believe that having a single card would be most ideal, just to not have any problems.

so the board I linked doesn't allow oc's?
It does, but the uncore frequency(these newer intels) overclock a lot better with the socket ASUS created. Any gigabyte board that ends with P(like mine UD3P) will have it. All ASUS boards have it as well.

Most 5820ks/5930ks will only goto about 3.6ghz uncore(3.3ghz stock), but with OC socket they can do 4ghz-4.6ghz. Keeps you more up to speed.

I think of it this weird way. A common overclock for a 4690k/4790k is about 4.6ghz. Our chips hit that easy(unless you're unlucky). Those chips unlike ours will hit 4.4ghz uncore and above(depending on luck) which helps with latency and bandwidths. So our processors at 4.6ghz will push out more speed due to more cores and also quad channel, but if you get that sweet uncore up to 4ghz you can squeeze a lot more bandwidth out.

I got mine to 4ghz, originally it would only go to 3.6ghz. If it's not important to you, then don't worry about it.

Okay I see I would have to solder the ud3p to allow this, I would rather spend the extra like 70 and get the asus.

I'm on one right now! Got the OC socket mode switch turned on (I didn't even know about it till the hasswell-e thread told me) thumb.gif

Like I said, I couldn't do anything above 3.6ghz cache until I flipped it. Now i'm rock solid at 4ghz. Too busy messing with ram timings to try to get it any higher. I bet I could squeeze 4.2ghz or more.

Nononono, in that article the guy did that hard mod on a UD3. Like I said, gigabyte boards that end in P have it. I have a UD3P, just don't go for their older boards.

The CPU mode switch allows for users to enable the extra pins in the socket.

The CPU socket has extra pins compared to the standard LGA2011-V3 socket. These extra pins allow for a higher cache ratio overclock (uncore) and for a lower IMC voltage, which can lead to higher memory overclocks.
