Side note 2: I removed half my RAM. 32GB was a bit overkill, but bought the kit for cheap on sale.

.... and as promised, screenshots of IBT tests.
IBT Standard 1.5v on RAM (Click to show)

High test after this one resulted in a system freeze. So I bumped the DRAM voltage from 1.5 to 1.51.
IBT 1.51v on RAM (Click to show)

Before starting each test I reset the min/max/avg values in HWInfo64 so you can see what each test did to the values.

And tomorrow, I'll start pushing the CPU to 4.4 and 4.5 and see if I can maintain stability with the RAM tuned. Hopefully I won't have to tweak it some more.

Ok, one more update, possibly final (unless there's any more suggestions I should really take, or my Prime95 blend 20-24hr stress fails). I'm stable-ish at 4.5Ghz!!! Thanks for pointing out the obvious to get everything off auto, as that was a big part of my problem. But the biggest part was my most recent revelation of setting the damn RAM settings. After using the XMP timings I had 4.3Ghz stable and tweaked and running well. I decided to skip 4.4Ghz and go straight for 4.5Ghz, and started freezing again.

Thinking I was somehow drooping RAM voltage I tried to bump it up again. No success. So i bumped up the CPU voltage, minor change in duration of test, but still froze. So I put the JEDEC settings back on for the RAM (putting voltage back to 1.51v) and IBT Standard passed! Turned the CPU voltage back down to 1.4V and failed. Gah! Turned CPU back up to 1.4125v, ran IBT on standard, then high, then very high, and all passed!
IBT Results (Click to show)

Now I know Prime95 small FFT would peak out the thermals better than IBT, so I then ran that before doing the longer tests.
Small FFT Running (video) (Click to show)

EDIT UPDATE: I should have knocked on some wood. 2 minutes into custom blend test of Prime95 I had a core stop. So I give up for today. Back to my 4.3Ghz settings. I know I just need to simply bump up the CPU voltage and that should probably correct that one core, but I've got things to do yet today and don't want to spend more time on it. Will work at it again another day.

For memory, tREF and Maximum Asynchronous Latency are the keys to stability.
But, of course, your memory controller has to be able to handle the speed too, and that's where CPU volts comes in.

So started the final testing for my overclock last night. I did ~30 min of 1344 and again for 1792 as per some other guys' recommendation. As of this morning before I left for work, Prime95 on blend using 12.5GB of RAM was still going. The only concern I have now is the high temps, as small FFTs were kissing the peak thermal limits, though I know in real work I should never reach that. Just leaving the blend unattended worries me a touch.

But if all is solid come 9pm CDT, I'll be smiling big at a +1Ghz overclock. 4.5Ghz @ 1.4375v. Higher power than I want, but it is what it is. Then I'll start planning my custom water loop setup and set aside funds for that project this summer into fall. Will post back tonight.

4.5Ghz 24+ hr Prime95 Blend using 12.5GB RAM, stable! Wooooooooo! It only took me about 5 weeks of screwing around, giving up, starting fresh, hitting a block, giving up, trying again, failing again, flashing the BIOS to remove any trace of my efforts to OC, and trying once more to get to my goal of a +1Ghz OC. Now I know voltage and multiplier overclocking are not going to be linear, but if they were, I could probably only get to 4.7Ghz @ 1.51v. So probably not going to get the 5Ghz I see some have. Then again, most of those are 8350's, so +1.2Ghz on an 8320 isn't anything to laugh at, but rather marvel in my greatness? lol
Finale of my 24 hr Prime95 Blend (Click to show)

And one last quick test, running a video game that i know will stress GPU and a bit of CPU at the same time, with all power savings enabled!

So running the system at 4.5Ghz for 4-5 days, I keep getting these weird system freezes. Start menu would hang, task manager takes a while to launch after start menu hangs. Then pretty soon everything is frozen except the mouse. After a minute or so, everything frees up and am hunky dory again. I was also having issues with one of my programs, and the only way I was going to easily fix it was a complete OS install. Which I did, cause who doesn't have a whole day to spend on installing windows and every program you had before + data transfers from backups? lol But maybe it was my impatience and installing too much crap all at once that didn't fix the original problem of my one program. So I let it be for another day until the system freezes became more frequent to the point where even a system restart wouldn't let me launch my start menu.

I'm now on yet another fresh OS install, of which I exercised great restraint and made sure to completely update windows 10 before ANY other program was installed. My original glitch is resolved and am in the process of restoring files and re-installing programs. With each OS install I reverted to stock BIOS settings, just to be sure nothing got screwed up. Do you think that maybe, even after 25-ish hours of Prime95 Blend + 90% RAM, that maybe my overclock wasn't 100% stable and it was causing files to go corrupt? Or was windows just being windows?
