I don't think we will see much difference with DX12. It will level the playing field for AMD and Nvidia and maybe help low-end CPU. DX12 will shine once you fully use parallel architecture of GCN via A-Sync Shaders but Nvidia will probably not allow devs to do so. Even AoS does not use much A-Sync.

Have you seen anything to make you believe that? IIRC, all of the controversy on Ashes were on GPU bound benches and it did indeed show huge CPU performance improvements. On some other benchmarks, dx12 is ~5x lighter for load on the main thread for the same tasks done.

Finally, the true onus really comes down to the developer and the studios who utilize these tools for voting with their dollars for inferior products. There is also the practice of accepting the massive kickbacks and incentives which resulting in DX being the dominant and de facto standard for the game development industry.

You're looking way too much into what I said. I wasn't even trying to make an argument, but a thought of irony when I read that comment.
