On big drawback with the UMX3 is that the mobo mounts directly on the side panel, there is no mobo plate, something to create maybe?
And one last thing, you actually "passively" cool the 980 Ti with the mk-26? If so, I'll get one asap!
Haven`t ditched it at all. I was just busy lately. I also couldn`t find a silver w. teempered glass one, so i eventually ran out of patience and i`ve bought a normal one. I received it tuesday and i`ve been tinkering with it the last two days.
I ran into some problems, mostly related to the pcie 16x riser. I`ve bought one from ThermalTake (about 30 euro) and it doesn`t work. I ca see the post untill windows begins to load, then everything goes black. Without it the card runs fine (but i can`t mount the behemoth 200mm psu). I`m returning it and i`ll see what can i do after.
I had to drill the bolts on the floor of the case, that kept the ssd bays (i`m hiding the ssds between the psu and the front wall of the case) and i`m thinking about buying a Dremel to cut two 140mm holes in the "floor"
about the passive cooling, that depends. It can stay totally passive without any breeze of air in idle (about 20 tabs opened in chrome, active browsing/watching youtube and a 1080p mkv running on the seccondary display) and it stays withing 60 degrees. With a light breeze (from the case fans, about 5cm away, at about 500 rpm) i can play Dota2 in 4k with frames limited to 60fps and again, a movie running on the 2nd display, for my wife
In intensive gaming - bf1 4k ultra, with 2 120mm Noctuas at ~700 rpm attached to the MK-26 it stays at ~80 degrees while totally silent.
I can say that i`m very happy with the MK-26 and i`ll probably swap the cooling even on the EVGA 1080 Ti ftw3.
other things to consider: the outer edge of the MK-26 extends beyond the width of the case. Even without the motherboard installed, the gpu`s fins extend a few mm. The riser adds to that too. I`m currently considering selling my 4690k, buying a mini Itx mobo lga 1151 and a Pentium G4560, which will become my separate media pc, but i will use them for gaming untill the next generation launches. Lots of thoughts have crossed my mind these days
Even so, i think i`d have to dremel the fins
) so it will fit inside the case.
I probably could have avoided all that hassle going with the UMX-4, but heh, where`s the fun if you don`t have to mod it? Any spoiled kid could do it
Inconveniences asside, i love the case. It`s so elegant, so anti-rgb madness, it`s everything i expect from a pc: sleek, silent, powerful.
