aio radiator vs alphacool st30

So, i'm going for a custom loop from h110i gtx and two evga hybrid coolers, i just have some concerns about radiator performance.

Comparing the radiators alone, which one have a better performance? The evga hybrid rad, or the alphacool st30? My concern is because the hybrid radiator have 21 fpi vs only 11 on the st30.

The performance from a custom loop does not always come from the rad. It's generally the substantially better flow rates that a proper pump can provide that gives you the better performance vs the AIO's

From a rad standpoint. I haven't heard great things about Alphacool rads. I hear you have to flush them. ALOT to get the solder flux out and other junk.

Currently I am only really knowledgeable about the rads I use.
So I would definitely recommend XSPC AX rads. Heard good things about those.

EX rads like I have are ok as budget rads if not a bit long in the tooth. I think these days there are better options and I plan to upgrade my EX rads soon.

I would definitely check out EKWB rads. Been hearing good stuff about them.

I know that radiatior isn't everything but it does matter right? I want everything in my loop better than aio, including the rads.

My loop will include the h240x2, two komodo nv-le, and another 280mm rad. I think that ax280 radiator is nice, i'll probably gonna get that.

Of course the rads matter. They matter a lot in your case. Yes, the EVGA rads have more fpi, but they are aluminum, not copper. Copper has over twice the heat conductivity of aluminum. Also the channels in the ST 30 are copper and I believe the ST 30 is dual pass. There is no comparing one of those CLC rads with the real thing.

I switched from orginal RaiJintec Tritron rad 30 mm thick to Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 240 .The difference is marginal - few degrees on cpu . Both rads was working with EK vardars at the same speed . In my opinion it's not worth to do this with Aio . IF You want custom loop get the custom loop
I also have EK rad 120 mm and compare to alphacool it was similar amount of junk after flush .
A single 280mm will perform better than your hybrid radiators for several reasons, including the fact that copper dissipates heat better. AIO radiators also need a lot of static pressure to cool because of the high FPI. That tends to drive up noise.

If you're looking for a slim (30mm) radiator, I actually don't recommend the ST30. I'd get the Black Ice Nemesis GTS instead. The 360mm version was the best performing slim radiator in a test by xtremerigs. I assume the 280 will compare just as well.

If you got it for a good price no. I have Ex rads. They are average at best vs the rest of the custom radiator crowd. Copper fins brass tubing. Pretty average run of the mill stuff. There is far better in the radiator world. But there is far worse. They land in the middle of the pack somewhere and XSPC prices them such. I like mine. thumb.gif have an EX360 and an EX280 in my rig. 2 Fury's and an FX8370 @ 5GHz. Gaming something like battlefield 4 which takes a considerable amount of CPU and GPU nets me 40C on the cards and around 50C on the CPU cores.
