[Build Log] Liquorice Allsorts: CaseLabs S5 + Pedestal - Page 24

I finally removed the SATA power cable from the pedestal. Replaced it with a Molex power ... same as my pumps. Speaking of pumps, I noticed that some of my wiring had come off ... completely off. I think it was due to me pushing and poking to get the wires under the pumps. I had to re-crimp about half of the wires.

I am running out of green tape. I certainly didn't expect that to happen. Here are some parts ready for fun and games tomorrow (or Sat / Sun). With any luck, I might have a computer up and running in my S5 by the end of the weekend.

Talk to Joe at ModMyMods if you are looking for Barrow fittings. Very competitively priced.

Thanks for the recommendation for Barrow fittings@ModMyMods.

One of the owners there is a fellow Canuck, apparently, lol.
But my cost after paying the difference in the US buck, is still quite high buying from them, no fault of theirs, just the powers that be, that are running the show in this world.
Insert conspiracy theory here............................ph34r-smiley.gif lol.

I also wanted to switch to silver-colored (coloured for us as well, lol) fittings this time, and it can be difficult to find all the Barrow fittings needed in silver finish at times.
Wound up buying a bunch of XSPC silver fittings on a clearance sale at Dazmode, for a very good price.
But I hope they don't leak!

Maybe I do, then I'll be forced to source out some of those nice Barrow fittings.

More great modding you've done, to open up access in that lovely S5.thumb.gif

Looking forward to seeing it up and running!

Now My Case Is Two Tone

I've been working on the 'drive' section of the S5. That is where my 2 x D5 pumps are going. That required a rather large(r) hole in the mid-chassis panel than was provided. My sides are both 'standard' windows so you won't see into the drive section. I always liked that but with a two tone case and a white interior ... the drive section was going to be white.

Not anymore ... I went for matte black and I am hoping it will look super stealthy.

Most of the bottom panel is wrapped in plastic while the mid-chassis panel is green taped to within an inch of its life.

LiqAsrt-0289.jpg

A morning of spray painting and ... bing ... a genuine two tone CaseLabs case.

That's really unique, as it's painted with two colors on one panel section!

Totally custom, and continues the liquorice theme!thumb.gif

Installing the Reservoir

Res first ... another template of what needs cutting, more green tape and black pen.

First Pictures of the CPU Block

The CPU block is the Watercool Heatkiller IV Pro (Copper AN ... what ever that means). There are a number of reviews for this part up now.

Edit: AN stands for 'anthracite' ... “Copper An” stands for Anthracite Nickel Plated Copper – in other words a darker nickel'.

Thx guys.

I think it stands for "Anodized".... @Watercool-Jakob would be able to fully confirm. ^_^

The AN stands for anthracite, which is the color of the block top.

Yep, that's what was stated in this review:

"While we got to test two “Pro” versions and one “Basic” edition there are plenty of choices. The pro comes in Nickel Copper, “Copper An”, Pure Copper, Acrylic, Acrylic Clean and Acetal versions while the basic comes in Acetal and Acrylic only. “Copper An” stands for Anthracite Nickel Plated Copper – in other words a darker nickel."
