Black combs for sure. I don't like clear combs at all, it's not like their invisible and just adds a bunch of unnecessary glare to the eye imo.

ruffbro, I've been following your build since the beginning and always get the happy giggity gig feeling whenever I see your awesome, colorful pictures! thumb.gif

Thanks SexPot. Very nice works. They do seem to be full of color.

My Aquaero came in the mail today. I have a bunch of reading to do, complete the CPU loop (GPU isn't included in loop in short term) ... then I might be able to actually surf the web with my new computer!

  • Aquacomputer faceplate for aquaero 5 and 6 PRO Aluminium black
  • Aquacomputer flow rate sensor "high flow USB" G1/4

There isn't much I can do re tubing until the flow rate sensor gets here (not exactly sure where this will go ... depends on size) so I may as well sit around working on my main power cable extension. I can also think about the 2 x 8-pin extensions.

Aquaero arrived. Read the 'quick start guide' which didn't help one little bit to get me started. I am going to plumb in the flow meter and complete the loop with flex tubing, install the various drives and ... totally take a wild ass guess on how to set up the Aquaero.

What can go wrong?

Ha. Lots of things.

I've emailed AquaTuning USA and will see what they say. That little thingo is stopping the passive heat sink from bedding down. I am pretty sure I saw this reported somewhere else.

I PM'd shoggy and he got back to me asking if I had an old heatsink (I don't think I do). He mentioned bending the brown thing out of the way or letting the heatsink push down on it ... as long as the little legs don't touch.

I'm going to dremel the top off that cutout so the brown thing can poke out the top.

Edit: Done. Dremelling complete. And the heat sink actually got hot from the dremel action. Heat sink installed, Aquaero installed. Now to start running a bunch of cables to it. I've got my Aquaero in the top slot ... furthest away from the cables ... but I think it will look better there (in the end).

Yeah, I'll be grinding out mine as well.
Not a huge job, but it's the principle of it, we shouldn't have to compensate for their design flaws.

The Aquaero should look good in the top slot in the S5.
It's going to be a learning experience getting it setup, but well worth it.
In spite of their little quirks, they're great controllers.thumb.gif

Woo ... either this build will be delayed or I will have some extra time to work on it. I've been having some back issues spread over a number of years and will be having a microdiscectomy tomorrow.

I've been discussing this with the Dr but it was un-nerving getting a call ('Want to talk to you about your procedure tomorrow') when I hadn't previously heard that I was having a procedure tomorrow.

At least I won't have too much time to get nervous and worry about it.

Oh no ruffbro! That's not good new at all frown.gif
I'm sure the good doctor will patch you up like new again. Just take your time to rest up properly and not to over extend yourself post surgery. Take care
