Thanks guys. I am yet to swap over to the new build ... can't seem to find the time to mirror my SSD. I was fiddling with it yesterday trying to find an easy way to access the SSDs without having to disconnect the motherboard and unplug / remove the PSU. I am going with the trusty 'velcro' method (amazon order for low profile, industrial velcro placed last night).

I am also chasing down a potential issue with my radiators (see post above).

Ok ... so the build might be finished ... but you can still play with the PC once you have it up and running.

Stress test time. Let's see how this water cooling thingo does. PC is set up in silent mode (pump at 60%, flow at 0.9 gpm, all fans at minimum (about 400 rpm).

I ran some Fold@Home code (CPU only) for about 10 minutes. All 6 cores were at, or close to, 100%. I then stopped folding and let it idle for about 5 minutes. I then cranked up the pedestal fans to 100% (about 1700 rpms) ... waited a bit and then started folding again. Finally, I turned the pedestal fans down to minimum again.

Here is a page from my Aquasuite showing 'Temp Delta' (CPU v Air) and 'Water Air Delta' (with about 20 minutes of history - those blue lines). Underneath that are two charts with (max) 60 minutes of history.

You can clearly see the folding at minimum fan speeds (CPU delta at about 15°C, air delta at about 2.5°C). You can see the reaction when I stopped folding. You can even see (bottom chart) the reaction when I cranked the pedestal fans up (water / air delta went to 0°C). It was held very close to zero when I turned the folding back on ... and only started edging up once I turned the fans down.

I would call that a successful test.

Liquorice Allsorts is now installed in the study and has taken over the everyday tasks of my old, trusty Corsair 550D. Long live Liquorice Allsorts smile.gif

The system still things is manufacturer is iBuyPower ... going to have to google how to change that to RuffCutCode.

I'm not very good at figuring temp. deltas out yet, but certainly yours look good.

Imo, hang on to those beautiful white rads and see how they work out for you.

Yeah, I've heard about how rad fins are best not painted and all that, but the difference with the lovely white paint on yours may not be so significant to worry about.
I guess I just really like Hardware Labs radiators, I had one in an earlier build, and the quality was fantastic.
Little things, like the screw guards, the extra ports, and they're usually very clean inside from the factory.

Aaaaand, the white paint (powder coat?) finish on yours is simply gorgeous.thumb.gif

Damn good job on the build and log, by the way!

Thx DecComisar. I am happy with the temps. Still putting it through its paces as my home PC. I think the extra ram will be very useful when I start to gimp those really big files.

You are most welcome, sir!

My memory (The memory in my little brain that is, lol!) isn't so good, so it's nice to be able to click on that lovely, well-organized chart on page one of the Lic. Allsorts Build Log, lol.
You have this kit?
http://www.gskill.com/en/press/view/g-skill-announces-ddr4-3200mhz-cl14-64gb-4x16gb--memory-kit

Yeah, I think you'll enjoy having that extra ram for really big files, or anything else you care to do with it.thumb.gif

I guess I should have kept my mouth shut.

But Ruff DID receive a copy of the same email I received from PPCS so he knows I was not making up vapor here.

This is how it happened.

1) I loved Mr Ruff's white rads with white fins so much. wubsmiley.gif

2) But white rads in my S8S would not work out, since I'm keeping white as an accent only color.

3) So the first opportunity I could find to jump into some of the gorgeous white Hardware Labs Multiport rads was updating my S8 test bench, (photo below) removing a single XSPC RX 360 v3 black rad and replacing with a HWL MP 120 in white/white and a HWL MP 240 in white/white

4) I placed the order one morning and then received an email from PPCS stating the white fin rads did not perform as well as the black fin, they called it a mistake, so I changed my order to white frame black fin. I go to PPCS at least three times a month and I really like those guys and Mary she does my sleeving, she is so awesome

5) I thought this was a KNOWN issue and the reason they no longer were selling the white frame white fin special edition radiators

6) I made the mistake of mentioning this in a public forum, when I should have just sent a nice PM to Mr. RUFF

7) So you will hear two statements from PPCS, one public one private

8) I don't want to lose any friendships here so I said no more about it, and I WILL NOT POST the email saying not to purchase the white fins.

9) Mr. Ruff received that email so he knows I was only trying to help him, and was not trying to stir up any controversy

10) If Mr. Ruff is happy then that's all that's important here smile.gif

Personally, I would press the issue and get those two 360 white/white fans RMA'd send back to PPCS, and have them send two 360 rads with white housing and black fins. If it was my rig I would sleep better at night.

But that is totally up to Mr. Ruff.

I try to help someone and get caught between a rock and thrown under a bus. Geez. redface.gif

They are very beautiful radiators in either color combination

I've decided to NO LONGER be active in the OCN forums due to this matter, you try and tell the truth and it blows up in your face. redface.gif

Hey, no problema, Bruce!

I wanted to put my two bits in.
I really like the totally-white rads.
I have no idea what effect the white-painted (powdercoated?) fins on those rads does to the temps.
I also don't know why HWL would even offer a version with white fins, if they knew it was really detrimental to the cooling performance of the rads.

But, marketing being what it is nowadays, along with certain weird things being done in Asia, may be why they even released such a version of this rad.
Who the hell knows, lol.biggrin.gif

Anyway, nice time frame from you, about what went on with you and PPC, and all that.
Perhaps PPC would actually be willing to resolve this, if there is a real issue here, and there really shouldn't be a white-finned radiator in existence in this universe, lol.biggrin.gif

If not, I'd certainly hang on to them, they are damn nice looking rads.

I have a wall mounted AC in the study ... the room where LiqAllsorts now lives. The above temp pics were all based on when the AC was running full on. Late yesterday afternoon, I turned the AC down to 1 on the fan scale and the air / CPU delta dropped to about 0.5°C (down from 2.5).

Here is where the temps are now ...

LiqAsrt-0392.jpg

First person to let me know why the CPU and Ambient are all lower than the water temp gets an e-cookie.

I don't understand why you would have been excoriated for bringing an issue to the public? If there is a hidden problem with a manufacturer product and they aren't making it public and a reseller and you are making people aware there is no reason to be backlashed, you should be be commended.

Unless I'm missing something? I don't know what went down just basing this on your 10 step explanation here. And I would be careful worrying too much about what OCN users say to you, 90% of them are just elitist mentality and think they're legends in they're own mind and their stuff don't stink. Sometimes the PC Master Race users are more humble.
