The 1070 / 1080 block fits the founders edition layout ... and the EVGA 1060 has the same layout.

See this doc for more details ... http://gpu.watercool.de/WATERCOOL_HEATKILLER_GPU_Compatibility.pdf

That said ... I haven't actually put the block on the GPU yet.

Did I say I talked to the MMM guys at PAX East? I did ... passed on some info about the desire for greater color options with Barrow but forgot to mention that we also wanted the v4 fittings. Anyway, I claimed the OCN discount (5.5%) on MMM only to get a note in my delivery about a 10% discount from PAX East ... bah - another $5 to MMM.

So ... the block is black, black on the front, black on the back, black on the inside too. That is ok as my build is a Black / White with Liquorice Allsorts color highlights in it. Time to Liquorice Allsorts colorize the block ...

Oh ... my 4 barrow fittings coming from China were not reporting anything for ages ... then ... bam ... arrived in NY, then CT, then NH and finally close to home. I am expecting them to turn up Monday or Tuesday.
So, you wound up getting a 1060 then.
I was getting confused when you mentioned a 1070, lol.

Beautiful block, and even more so with your personal touch.thumb.gif
Edit:
Good that you spoke to the MMM guys about Barrow.
I recently purchased a bunch of Barrow fittings from MMM.
Not as cheap as getting them from China, but still a good value.

I think they look like pretty decent quality fittings.

My order from Aliexpress came in today. 4 x Barrow G1/4" 90 Degree Serpentine Double Rotary Fitting Water Cooling TSWT902-V1

Two look fine (top left). Two have (what I can only describe as) CRUD, in them (bottom right plus insert).

I have pocked it with a standard art knife and it moved ... a little ... but it didn't flake off. Moved more like a big lump of something.

I haven't tried introducing water yet.

Any suggestions?

Alight suggested soaking in hot water. So ...

Hot water did nothing. Soap did nothing. It appears that the 'dirt' was there when they painted. It is pretty much baked in there now.

I PM'd the seller with info re the issue ... if that doesn't work, then it will be time to test the Aliexpress order dispute mechanism.

I contacted the seller and he asked if I can use them anyway ... "This is Barrow's oringal make, this will effect your use"

Um ... yes it will.

"Will it effect use? Yes. I can't put this into a loop with other computer parts as the risk of it breaking off and blocking the flow in other locations is high. Blocked flow can result in failure of the PC cooling system and destruction of the CPU, GPU and / or motherboard."

Discussion ongoing.

Edit: I really like Mr Kim Zhu at the ZERO Water Cooling store on Aliexpress.

Hi Tim,
Get it.
Will resend you 2pcs. Do you need other items? Then could send toghter.
Best regards!
Kim

The new Barrow bags are different from the first batch in that you can open and reseal them without 'ripping the top off'. As such, I asked Mr Kim to inspect the parts before he shipped them. Mr Kim responded that he would inspect the two replacement items.

Note that he shouldn't have to do that ... Barrow should catch these things frown.gif.

So ... I have 2 new 90° snakes coming. The last set took 20 days frown.gif to come ... does that mean I can't put these into my loop? No. It. Does. Not.

Firstly ... I took to the two crud encrusted fittings with a flat head screwdriver and scrapped that ***** out. Scrap. Scrap. Scrap. Bang on desk to remove crud. Scrap. Scrap. Anyway - you should see the stuff on my desk. I would post a picture except my Canon battery is flat and I can't find the dang-nab-it charger - time to order a replacement from Amazon. And then find the charger 30mins after ordering replacement.

I'll post a picture tonight.

Looking at the fittings after scraping the stuff out ... you can see the underlying brass. Assuming I can get this nice and clean, will the exposed brass interfere / interact with the other metals in the loop?

What am I going to do while I wait for the two replacements? I am going to combine 45° fittings to simulate the 90° fitting.

That and wait for the Heatkiller backplate to come back in stock mad.gif

I think brass, copper and nickel are all okay together. Brass is a copper alloy after all.

Good point - thanks.

I soaked the two gunk'd up parts in a mixture of white vinegar and hot water overnight. It now appears that they are gunk free ... but I certainly have a section of the inside that didn't see any paint. I'll see if I can get some reasonable pics.

I checked on those new fittings coming from China (the replacements for the gunkie ones) ... they were shipped a month ago and cleared NYC customs on Monday. I should get them early next week. That is the longest shipping window that I have experienced with something coming from China.

I have also been looking for some PrimoChill PrimoFlex Advanced LRT 3/8in.ID x 1/2in.OD Tubing Bundle - Crystal Clear but everyone (even Amazon!) wanted to charge me shipping. Funny ... amazon have some that is Prime, but this particular 'version' wasn't ... until I checked on Wednesday and it was (ORDERED!).

I have also been unhappy about the flow rate I am getting so I am looking at making some light mods to my pedestal flow. That said ... incorporating the GPU block into the system will only decrease the flow more. First world problems.

Anyway - I have been using my mobo, memory, etc using my Cryorig cooler ... just so I can enjoy the extra speed and memory head-room.

That is a long wait for fittings! You have much patience smile.gif

For tubing, the cheapest alternative and best tubing IMO is buying directly from Mayhems.

Two replacements arrived today in the mail - both clean as a babies bottom.

I ordered 4 Barrow G1/4" 90 Degree Serpentine Double Rotary Fitting Water Cooling TSWT902-V1 from Zero Water Cooling (Aliexpress) and two of them came with gunk baked into them ... the black paint cover was 'over' the junk.

I contacted Mr Kim Zhu who sent me two replacements, free of charge. He is quick to communicate and keen to get earn good ratings. I will buy from him again and, if you are looking for an Aliexpress shop for your barrow needs, you can't do better than Zero Water Cooling.
