On the GPU side the game requires a minimum of a GTX 660 or a HD 7870, which are both pretty even on the AMD and Nvidia sides, though as we move up to the games recommended requirements look very Nvidia friendly, placing a GTX 770 on par with a R9 290.

MINIMUM:

OS: OS 64-bit Windows 7
Processor: Intel CPU Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz / AMD CPU Phenom II X4 940
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 / Radeon HD 7870
DirectX: Version 11

RECOMMENDED:

OS: OS 64-bit Windows 7 / 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1) or Windows 10
Processor: Intel CPU Core i7 3770 3,4 GHz / AMD CPU AMD FX-8350 4 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 770 / AMD GPU Radeon R9 290
DirectX: Version 11

The game requirements say that the game requires a DirectX 11 GPU, though we do know that the games renderer does work with DirectX 12, as IO Interactive will be holding a tutorial session at GDC called "Rendering Hitman with DirectX 12". Right now we do not know if the game will ship with DirectX 12 support on PC.

Not related to specs but this is quite interesting, "This title is an episodic title, meaning that this game will be sold on a level by level basis, with the first episode releasing on March 11th and with the final episode being expected in holiday 2016 or early 2017."

So once again developers recommend a much stronger AMD card compared to Nvidia card.

We all know what this means frown.gif

I'd love to know what Square Enix is thinking, not only is the FF7 Remake going to be episodic but Hitman too.

What bothers me is that they're taking games and their formulas that have worked well and they're changing them into something different.
I haven't got anything against episodic games, some of them are really nice. But I'm not entirely fond of the concept of taking existing games and changing the formulas of the sequels into something else, such as an episodic experience.

This is just my own opinion so I can't blame anyone for feeling different about it.

Since the FF7 Remake is going to be episodic, I hope they pursue something similar to how they did Final Fantasy 13.

True, but Fallout 4 did the same except with an even bigger disparity in performance bewteen the recommended cards, and Ive heard reports it runs just fine on some cards below the recommended level (EDIT at least on the AMD side). From the benchmarks on Techspot at least Fallout ran pretty well at 1080p ultra on a 7950 boost.

I think developers need to start expanding their recommendations to include what settings they mean when they say minimum, I cant believe that with every setting to its lowest at lower resolutions it wont run ok on significantly slower cards.

They always have the recommended CPU as I7 vs 8350 as well, are we to assume that a Phenom II X940 is equivalent in performance to a I5 2500k too?

Considering it is a Gaming Evolved title, what do you think it means? That Nvidia is now paying AMD to gimp their own cards?

I expect it to run similar to Rise of The Tomb Raider

I'm sure it's still Nvidias fault somehow.
