GPU bottleneck - GTX9x0 or Pascal be bottlenecked by Sandy Bridge?

Thread Starter
Would there be CPU bottleneck running "cpu intensive" games if I pair a GTX980 Ti "equivalent card" or a 'midtier" card from the Pascal series/AMD HBM with a i7 2600k Sandybridge? (at stock 3.4GHz or with a small overclock to 4.0GHz)

I say it will run fine.
I have a GTX 980 running with an old i7 970 at 3.2ghz with no issue.
I had been running a GTX 970 with it also.
performance is great with either so I'm sure yours will run great.
