What games are you looking to play and at what settings?

Also check your PSU and that it has enough amps on the 12v rail for the GPU card you end up using.

I wouldn't touch anything below a GTX 750 or an R7 250X, and I wouldn't bother with anything using DDR3. Budget? Power supply? Games?

Thats a good PSU. +12V@40A, you should be fine with most nvidia cards. 750ti or 960 depending on how much you want to spend. I havent been following AMD cards for a long time so not familiar with them.

Not bad. That will run any single GPU you want up to a Titan or Fury X.

R7 360 or GTX 750Ti should be reasonable. Whole system should be under 200W under load with either, less with the Nvidia option.

R7 360 or GTX 750Ti bottleneck ?
They seem to be very strong for this cpu and mb only have 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, supports x4 speed not x16 speed unfortunately .

"Bottleneck" is a concept that really shouldn't be applied universally. If, say, you're playing Minecraft on low settings, your CPU will be the bottleneck, since the GPU hardly has to work. If you're playing Crysis at 4k, then you're probably looking at a GPU bottleneck instead.

So sure, there's a lot of games where the CPU will be a bottleneck. But then there are others where the GPU will be pushed to its limits. Also keep in mind that that Athlon is more or less an Xbone or PS4 APU sliced in half, at least the CPU part. The Xbone has in effect an R7 260/360 (same thing) as well, but crippled by the DDR3 VRAM.

If you got the 360, you'd have half the CPU cores - not really a big deal - and a GPU with four times the memory bandwidth vs an Xbone. 750Ti brings you a bit closer to PS4 tier.

And don't worry too much about the PCIe slot. Compared to a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, a flagship GPU in the kind you have (2.0 x4, with 1/8 the bandwidth) would run around 75% as fast. That's a pretty significant performance hit, but you're not dealing with a flagship. I can't imagine you'd see anything more than a 10% performance hit for a GPU as slow in comparison (~30% as fast).

Well said. As long as you aren't going in with really high expectations, this chip can do some sweet stuff for what it is.

I'll take a screenshot of what my previously mentioned family member plays and I'll try to get some numbers for you all later tonight.
