One things certain, Nvidia's current line up of GPU's are well suited for limited API's. Their drivers are highly tuned in relation to this. As for AMD, the GCN architechture has a very deep and complex pipeline with a tone of available processing cores/shaders. This is well suited for a low level API, which will allow the whole GPU to be fed with data properly and optimally. DX11 is very limiting to GCN and stops much of the GPU from ever being utilized. That's why Nvidia win the benchmarks despite GCN being the far supirior architecture in terms of available power.
Please don't resort to canning the discussion with rhetoric. Nvidia does not win in the benchmarks. They actually lose the moment Directx 12 is mentioned. Futuremark's API test is the case in point, here. You just cannot draw sufficiently on Nvidia hardware, there is 2:1 scaling between the Titan X and 295X2(13M>24M).

In the post from Kollock, from Oxide, he states...
There was no pressure from Nvidia. Nvidia stated things weren't working, Oxide thought they were, it went back and forth, and it turns out they really weren't working. So Oxide began to work closely with Nvidia.

That was just damage control after the fact.. If you're naive to believe that then go ahead.

The CEO of Oxide even tweeted at Nvidia to "tread lightly".

Firstly, anyone (including me) is able to obtain a license to use or modify Gameworks from NVIDIA, including AMD. The whole "black box" shtick is just not only scary sounding words to get people to be irrationally scared of something (i.e "death panels" and "chemtrails"), its false.

Secondly, how is it NVIDIA's fault that a game is released in a broken or poor state? Gameworks is a library of graphical effects and its not NVIDIA who created the game.

Yeah, my comment was in regards to DX11 and how it limits GCN. That's a fact.
GCN is technically better. Nvidia's Arch is suited for DX11. DX11 chokes GCN. Nvidia does better in DX11 in general.

Get real! What is the point of even having a conversation if you are going to be just dismissive, of Oxide themselves, just to hold your point up?

Oxide screwed up, spoke big publicly, and then actually ended up with a foot in their mouth. Nvidia said it wasn't working, Oxide disagreed, and later found out that Nvidia was right. So at that point Oxide made the apology, let us all know, and began working to fix it.

To be dismissive of that completely ruins the point of having a conversation.

Hasn't this been common for quite some time?

Nvidia's newest GPU's run great on the newest titles but over a year or two, that same gpu performs like trash. AMD gpu's out the gate are slower than their Nvidia counter-parts out the gates, but after a year or two on the newest titles outperform the Nvidia version.

if I recall, the 780ti smashed the 290X when they were both brand new, but the 290X is now on par and even beginning to surpass the 780ti's in the newest titles.

Really, Nvidia should be the choice for people who upgrade every time a new GPU comes out, and AMD should be the choice for those who hold onto their GPU for a few years before upgrading.

Well you mean R9 280X is as fast as GTX 780Ti in newer titles?

Heck Square-Enix was doing hairworks level of detail on a PS3 in their games, so don't tell me it's just super detailed and that amazing. It's just optimized like trash, pure and simple.

Just curious, did you buy Arkham Knight on PC and just run at low settings because, hey in 3 years you might be able to turn it up to high, and praise the quality of work done?

I feel like it's not even worth replying to this terrible quality post.

So every time we will go AMD vs NVIDIA?Why? cant you all just make prediction... and then just wait until actually benchmarks will arrive?

But anyway since this is thread about HITMAN, Asycn shader and DX12.

Well Hitman was always very CPU intensive. So thank god they will use DX12.
For async shaders... well, we dont know much about how much performance will it add... So I am very glad that this game will actually use it.
Well I have played HITMAN, but I was always get bored in a middle of a game... I hope it will have movie like story.
