[WCCF] HITMAN To Feature Best Implementation Of DX12 Async Compute Yet, Says AMD - Page 21

If a Gameworks feature does nothing but cause performance drops without increasing the experience, it is a waste of time and should not even be implemented.

Agree. Those resources could have gone into 1 setting that works instead of multiple broken ones. But when you have a lot of Gameworks features that aren't terrible, it's pretty damn nice to have. That's how I feel about the new Tomb Raider game.

Agreed.

In this situation I think it was a bit daft of Bethesda to include more levels of Godray "quality" that don't do anything but hurt FPS, but hey it's their money and time they spent adding those Gamework effects. I also dont see how in BF4 that someone will feel the need for even more anti-aliasing after enabling 4x MSAA and FXAA, but hey its DICE's call if they want to add the resolution scale.

What Eye candy? have you even looked at Godrays in Fallout 4? There's absolutely nothing there, it doesn't look better, it doesn't even look different but that eats 20-25 FPS in Nvidia cards and up to 40 FPS in AMD cards.

I have a Fury X card and I surely don't lack in horse power to drive any worthy graphical setting and I'm still complaining, in afct everyone who's complaining about this have High End computers, we don't like to waste our resources mindlessly, we need to get something in return for those 40 FPS for Christ Sake.

What I'm trying to convey is that it's most likely less money and time to implement an array of gw features than 1 extra feature themselves.

Does the mere presence of Godrays Ultra offend you or something? If you feel something is useless, don't use it... I don't get the whole crusade about something that is optional.

It doesn't offend me, I'm pointing out that this setting does nothing for us gamers and it functions exclusively as leverage for Benchmarks in Nvidia's favor, just like Gameworsky Gerald X64 Hair.

BF4 Implementation of those many AA settings is understandable, some people prefer to have FXAA because of its efficiency, others MSAA because of its Image Quality, others SSAA because its the best AA ever conceived and it comes at a tremendous FPS impact, but having those 3 in separate settnigs allow you to finetune the resulting AA, maybe MSAA X4 and FXAA Low (For little blur on textures, FXAA does a better job at getting those perky AA jagies but it blurs the images, while MSAA is more selective but its sharper)

That's actually really reasonable. Hopefully testers were smart enough to realize that Godrays Ultra is useless and should instead opt for the way more reasonable Godrays Low or perhaps even Off if you want to make the benchmarks more fair.

lol , compare tessellation to ACS if you don't want double standards tongue.gif. and amd is right here because ATM their hardware is the only one that fully supports ACS . that doesn't mean nvidia is locked out or something. just that they are behind with ACS same as AMD is behind with tessellation.

"double standards"

A thick envelope often times distort the meaning of "Fair".

Benchmark sites, Gameworks or not, always use maxed out games, Benchmarking sites don't usually have selective settings on their games.
