IDK if this has been asked before but are the results of 980Ti + 390X and example of AMD card handling the async ? This combination seems to have a ridiculous scaling for a mixed gpu setup. 42 fps on 980Ti, 70 fps on 980Ti + 390X. I wonder if the cards tested were overclocked, it's possible that 980Ti would be behind Fury X in single card mode but actually faster paired with 390X than Fury X + 390X.

Considering its so hard to get most games to use SLI and CFX to their full potential and sometimes get them to work I would say there is no hope or point for mixed GPUs. Trust me you want Single GPU unless you get the second for free. Right now Dual GPUs are not ideal. The fact that you have to wait for driver is already a pain.

It also has to be specifically coded for by the developer. So some smaller studios may put in the effort, but I really can't see Ubisoft or EA making much push for it (especially Ubisoft).

I don't think you need a driver for mixed gpu mode.
we'll see what we see, it's interesting enough to see those number on the graph, not to mention if this could work in your rig.

Interestingly, I'd like to see 390X + 980Ti, too. Fury X performs better when leading 980Ti, why shouldn't 390X?

I don't know, when you have 2 GPUs and multiple queues, you end up with a pretty complex web of signals and fences.

We've been debating why mixing GPUs from different vendors gets the best results. We don't really know why. One theory is that each GPU has a different hashing function for memory access, so by mixing them you end up with less overall PCI-e collisions. But, alas, this is beyond our knowledge base.

So again Am I against PCGH or what? Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Why are they contradicting every other site.
http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Ashes-of-the-Singularity-Spiel-55338/Specials/Benchmark-Test-DirectX-12-1187073/

1080P with async ON GTX 980Ti actually gaining 3 fps. Every other test shows fps loss while using async, but there arent...

Okay that could be bug, error or something... but it seems like they want to show best from GTX 980TI. Oooh, I get it R9 390 would be really close to it.
Yeah.... searching for every mistake... man. Well who I am to judge...
@Kollock
Didnt NVIDIA implement async shaders?

The performance delta from 1080p to 1440p is >94%. Fury X is pretty limited at these resolutions, lol.

O maybe Anandtech could use extreme or crazy present or at least overclocked i7 6700K with really fast ram.
