[WCCF] HITMAN To Feature Best Implementation Of DX12 Async Compute Yet, Says AMD - Page 10

That is the double standard I am talking about.

Had this been a GameWorks thread/feature discussion, it would have been flooded with "GameWorks! Get that crap out of here, ruining and tubing games!". Yet, here we are, discussing an ENTIRE article about AMD's Gaming Evolved, and people (you) are trying to say it is just about ASC.

No, this is an announcement by AMD and IO of their partnership via the Gaming Evolved program, literally. Let me show you....
This is a Gaming Evolved announcement, and people are going spastic over it, yet with Nvidia they would be burning torches. Further, and I want people to actually think about this...

ASC v.s. Phsyx: Both are features that one can use, but not the other, so why is one OK?

lachen.gif What the? Async is NOT an AMD exclusive feature.. Sure their marketing is acting like it is, and in some respects it's true, but only until Pascal drops (maybe).

Secondly, Gameworks has a proven track record of deliberately/unintentionally crippling the competition, Gaming Evolved does not. Regardless, as i said earlier, you've come in here playing the Nvidia victim card for no reason, before your original post most of the discussion revolved around Async, no one even meantioned GE..

thanks.
i know it different but what draws my attention is the mixed cards have a better performance than a SLI/Xfire configuration of each vendor.

i am asking that you don't be a debbie downer - for now wink.gif

I'll be Mr positive from now on. tongue.gif

He hasn't played any victim card at all. He is merely bringing up valid points and being gang-attacked for doing it.

Get off his nuts.

Darned right we're excited. "Playing nice" has gotten AMD exactly what in the last several years? An 80% market share in discrete GPUs for Nvidia has proven exactly one thing: consumers love dirty tricks. If they have decided to compete on Nvidia's level, well then we can only hope it's not too late.

The best thing we can hope for is that AMD turns the screws hard on its console leverage to gain a strong foothold in discrete. Pushing Async Compute and competitively showing just how 'legacy' Maxwell is as an architecture should be the first step to doing just that.

Unless you really want that 80% to look more like 95%.

Uhm... It achieves 8 compute queues per ACE, and it has 8 ACEs, making a total of 64 achievable compute queues. It also has a separate graphics command processor, which works in parallel with the 8 ACEs. So it's actually 1 graphics queue + 64 compute queues.

I hope the game is enjoyable for both Nvidia and AMD users.

Get off his nuts.

Oh? Please quote his "valid points".. Equating Gameworks and Physx to Asynchronous Compute is ridiculous.. But call it valid if you wish.

His first statement of this thread: "I find it interesting that people can spend hours decrying Nvidia and their GameWorks and TWIMTBP campaign, but AMD does their version, and everyone gets excited. They are both closed systems....if one is fine, so is the other." sad-smiley-002.gif That's playing a victim, and deflecting the topic away from Async towards Nvidia fanboys being hard done by.. Being red or green doesn't matter, they're all damn annoying.

Besides all this petty drivel, AMD stating that only their hardware is currently capable of Async, means that they would of made sure of it prior to saying that. This pretty much confirms what @Mahigan and others that got hate thrown at them were saying all along. Maxwell is indeed incapable of Async. To little to late for AMD though, Nvidia already "won" this gen. But it's good for those of us with GCN, we'll get a nice boost.

I'll ignore your last sentence.. Maybe the mods will too. thumb.gif

Because AMD does. (See GPUOpen)

My comment about AMD claiming it as theirs is "disingenuous"? Are you kidding me?

It is AMD's own words! Here, I will quote the article, again!
They aren't my words, but AMD's word!

Straw Man

This is what AMD actually said, "Hitman will leverage unique DX12 hardware found in only AMD Radeon GPUs."
This is a factual statement, Radeon cards are currently the only ones with hardware ASC support.

You then inferred that AMD is claiming to own ASC.
You then take your inference and construct and argument that is not true. "...AMD is pushing ASC as their exclusive feature..."
You then claim that this inference is actually the word of AMD and attack it instead of the actual statement.
It's much easier to defeat this inferred claim because it, unlike the actual statement, is not true.

Quote:
Wow, AMD actually put out something as truly open, and not the "open" AMD has been known for. Then again, their position sort of dictates that.

Yes, because clearly only a company that was suffering would do something positive for their market.
Quote:
I suppose this is true, and thus why AMD is in the toilet as a whole. Then again, using this very logic, why is Nvidia first to get pointed at on a bad game that has their logo? Why doesn't the developer get the flack first? Time and time again, a game runs like ass and people point a finger at Nvidia's GameWorks - even in situations where it isn't being used/running.
Why can't I? I am not biased.....

These are the reasons people think you're bias.

1. You were the first person in this thread to mention GameWorks or Gaming Evolved and started out your presence in the thread defending GameWorks by saying it was just as closed as Gaming Evolved.
2. You made an incorrectly inferred claim about AMD's statement and attempted to compare a free API to a closed source SDK.
3. You made a false statement about the open source nature of AMDs developer program and when presented with evidence that proved you wrong you used it to attack AMD.
Quote:
Then again, their position sort of dictates that
4. You made this statement in an argument that had nothing to do with AMD.
Quote:
I suppose this is true, and thus why AMD is in the toilet as a whole.

I think the storm has passed and the defense squad has finally beaten the point they don't want GameWorks any more than Gaming Evolved. I couldn't agree more; however I should say, should GameWorks have provided what it should(a better experience) and not +30 FPS none what so ever, we wouldn't be juxtaposing it with Asynchronous Shaders and the +40% performance it brings when it matters.

Gameworks offers nothing but additional useless settings that in the worst case are like the Godrays on Fallout 4.

No where does it mention they will add any AMD special effects unlike Gameworks,it just says they will use Async Compute, and that is a feature of DX12.

Their last Hitman game did not even include any AMD effects.

This is just a partnership like the one done with Starwars Battlefront. They will probably bundle this game with Polaris cards.
