Does anyone know where I can get the most recent BIOS update for my A79A-s mobo with the FX790 chipset and Phenom 9650 CPU? I have been looking for about 4 hours now and have found nothing even close. your help would be greatly appreciated.

The ususl place to look is the motherboard manufacturer's website:

http://www.foxconnchannel.com/ProductDetail.aspx?T=motherboard&U=en-us0000401

Click "Tech Support"

Latest BIOS listed:
File Description, Version, Updated Date
A79A-S Add support AMD 6 core Processor. 782F1P09 5/21/2010[/I]

You are supposed to run the update in DOS.

You can update the bios in Windows too, by using AFUWin.

http://ami.com/?AMIBIOS_and_Aptio_AMI_Firmware_Update_Utility.zip

AMIBios/AFUWin/64 for 64-bit OS.

Why are you asking that?

because with the file I got from Foxconn and the unexpected shutdowns and 3 hour resets, I'm still trying to get things to work... the utility wont let me flash my bios with the ones I have downloaded for the purpose and I can barely get 20minutes of usage before my PC shuts off and takes 3 hours of reseting CMOS and restarting without my HDD installed. It could be my PSU dying or my bios chip going bad and even my MOBO frying.

Sometimes you have to rename the BIOS update file from .bin to .rom or vice versa.
