Barb and Compression Fittings ID and OD

Thread Starter
I'm about to refill my H220X and I was told before by Bryan to use a 3/8" barb on the fill port together with some tubing. I'm still getting familiar with terms but here are my questions:

1.) A 3/8" barb means a 3/8" OD, right?

2.) If for barbs OD is important and for tubing ID is important, do the barb ID and tubing OD have any significance in a loop?

3.) I'm reading that for compression fittings, you have to match both ID and OD to that of the tubing. Which compression fitting measurement should match which tubing measurement for this type of fitting?

4.) Are there also thread measurements for these fittings? Or is the thread measurement universal for all the water cooling components?

1) Means fits a tube with 3/8 ID
2) Tubing OD for compression fittings
3) Depends on tubing, most likely 3/8 ID x 5/8 OD
4) You can assume everything is G1/4 Thread

Note: there ARE exceptions : some "low-end kits" and some WC cooled GPUs come with G1/8 fittings
