i5 2500k overheating

Thread Starter
The temps on my i5 2500k reach 85C after half an hour of playing the witcher 3. It's overclocked to 4,4GHz, the voltage is set to exactly 1.32V, which should be pretty low. Core Temp shows that the VID is constantly at 1,38V - 1,39V, but I guess it's not the same as the voltage I change in BIOS.

I have an air cooler and thermal paste put on.

What can be wrong?

You should be able to do 4.4 GHZ with lower voltage than 1.39. What CPU cooler do you have ?

Yeah, I set the voltage to 1.32V in BIOS, but it still shows 1,39V in core temp.

I have Fortis HE1225.

The cooler looks ok, but I never heard of that brand. Make sure it's properly seated and you applied just enough thermal paste, too much could also be bad.
Try lowering the voltage or lower load line calibration settings. Is your CPU overcklocked in offset mode?

No, it's overclocked in fixed mode - 1,32V exactly. And the power boost limit is set to +0.012V.
