6600k overclocked vs 6700k overclocked in games

From what I have seen the 6600k gets spanked in a lot of games in parts where there are frame drops.
It seems the only time it doesnt is if the game isnt optimized properly or is GPU bottlenecked.

And its the games that are optimized the most that see the biggest difference, particularly GTA and Crysis.

GTAV = 18fps more on 6700k @ 4.6
Crysis 3 = 30FPS more on 6700k @ 4.6

The GPU is at 1% for a few frames cause the CPU is choking even though its not near full load.

By the way there is an edit feature, the mods might not be to happy with you triple posting wink.gif

You have a point that in some newer games the 6700k is getting more worthwhile over an I5 as the threading improves. Quite often an overclocked TitanX, 980Ti Fury SLI/Crossfire etc is needed in order to actually find the bottleneck a lot of the time. It really comes down to a matter of budget r whether you are using a top end card or SLI.

Its worth it to some and not to others, that the i7 is better in some situations is not really news 2cents.gif

I was expecting it to auto merge, pretty sure all forum software has that feature now but at least I know for next time. (Theres no delete)

The gap would be smaller for mainstream cards.

So you basically answered your own question, although i don't really see a question in your post(s).
Do you need advice on which one to buy or..?
