Can my motherboard (Asus P6X58D Premium, Rev 1.XX) use the Xeon X5650 cpu?

As the title suggest can this motherboard use the Xeon X5650 cpu? I'm trying to upgrade from an i7 930 cpu

The compatibility should be fine, however, with the clock speed decrease and the bad overclocking, the Xeon isn't much of an upgrade for the price. Money would be better spent on a beefy CPU cooler (if you don't already have one) and a little bit of time spent on overclocking. Even when hyperthreaded, the two extra cores aren't going to benefit daily use and gaming at all, and only a slight performance increase will be seen in rendering tasks, but that should be erased by a moderate overclock.

Got that mobo and a 5650 at 4.2 Ghz.
It's a beast.

Colladus probably forgot that you can increase the bclk in the X58 plattform.

Do you know what revision your mobo is? Mine says 1.XX, I'm worried that my revision won't support the xeons

Heya Dotachin, do you know what your bios settings you've changed to successfully hit 4.2 ghz? I got a X5670 and am going to try and hit at least 3.8 ghz with new ddr3 2400 mhz ram I got

Care to lend a hand and provide some helpful bios tips that you've used?
