Sorry not everyone is going to watercooled their card.

As such HBM card remains a better choice to both to the GPU as well as the casing internal as well...

Onboard memory need to die, Titan at $1000 might have really justified for HBM, but they are toying your feeling by pushing it back 1 year.

No no, I was talking about atleast one GP104 card being watercooled directly from Nvidia. thumb.gif
Someone found entries of parts of a Pascal GPU that shipped in late December.

It have 2152 pins
It have a 37.5x37.5mm package which is typically what you find on midrange chips like Gx104 chips. According to 3DCenter GP100 comes in a 55x55mm2 package

If you look at the pins, here is a comparison vs previous chips
GK104/GM204: 1745
GK110/GM200: 2397

In addition you can see that this GP104 chip features "Water cooling lid".

We need to refer in term of same price segment.

Anyway GTX 1080 will definitely perform better than Titan X or 980 Ti. But that is not what I am looking for because it just mediocre 25% at best.. What I am looking at is something that could drive anything at 4K with a single card, and that is none other than GP100.

They are all the same price segment.

Until Nvidia decided to charge twice the price for flagship cards biggrin.gif

( I get your point though )

Hmm didn't know that. Interesting.

I'd rather have air cooled versions though. Should be possible. If not for reference then custom like with the Fury

with just one itsy, bitsy tiny difference, NO ARCH CHANGE between the 680-Vanilla Titan - 780Ti.. that's all...lol

I think people should be happy with what they buy, and if they are not, they should change their buying preferences, and buy something else. There is no point in complaining about something you don't like, and I have been guilty of this myself, and I should have just acted a long time ago instead of complaining incessantly. tongue.gif Much happier now with my choice so far (and relieved, to be honest..lol), and nowI am focused on my next monitor purchase, go with bigger screen and not so well known brand, or smaller screen and a reputable brand.. probably would end up compromising one thing or another, but VRR should remain the constant factor.. I think good ole NV will also come around to async/ fresync sooner rather than later; looking at some upward pricing trends in the free sync/.async market looks to be a good leading indicator ... lol

Well both GTX 980 and GTX 970 had a ton of custom models from a ton of AIBs. You shouldnt worry with 1080 and 1070.
My only caveat with water cooled cards is the idling noise. Air cooled are passived cooled during idling while Fury X and other AIOs always run. I hope Nvidia found a way to fix this.

That water cooling part is probably for Drive PX2.
37,5x37.5 is approx. the size of the GM206 package, GM204 is something like 40x40.

Yep agreed. 48 to 60 FPS is a 25% improvement, but am I likely to see a difference? Eh maybe, but it won't be anything dramatic. However 40 to 60 FPS is a 50% jump, and there I can definitely observe a tangible difference. So for me if an upgrade is not a minimum of 50% faster than the old then I don't upgrade.
