x99 mobo owners need you help!

Thread Starter
Gonna be purchasing an x99 mobo next week at my local microcenter but I have no idea which is best. X99 mobos seem to have a lot of bad reviews so i was hoping some of you would share your experience and guide me in the right direction. My budget is $265.00 max. mobo is for an i7-5820k cooled with a noctua u12 that I will be looking to overclock. Using 16gb ram and running 1 980ti and 1 ssd. Thanks

I have the MSI SLI plus and it's ok. It does not come with WIFI though which is definitely a deal-breaker for a lot of people and I've been working on some embedded systems projects for school where I've needed to connect via ethernet and couldn't.

It was first gen and was the cheapest motherboard offered at the time. It's served me well but does seem to have some issues. Every once in a while when I'm trying to start/restart my computer, it gets stuck in POST or BOOT. Sometimes it just loads the OS logo indefinitely. I can restart but I usually have to do it a few times and I suspect that can't be good for the system in general. These are at stock settings with a 1000W PSU so I shouldn't have issues.

TLDR:

MSI x99 SLI PLUS 3.7/5 stars, be hard-pressed to recommend with your higher budget
