AMD'S Crossfire Solution is vastly superior to Nvidia, why are you implying otherwise?

AMD have better frame pacing, latency, performance scaling and consistency so I don't get what they could "Improve to make CF tech as good as SLI" if anything, they would have to hinder their CF Tech to be as good as SLI.

Crossfire works well when it works, but they have a lot of issues with games they support and other bizarre and weird bugs.

I don't know about any "Weird bug", but you are right regarding CrossFire support, especially with Gameworks titles, wonder why lol.

Besides Gameworks titles, 99% of all games have perfectly working Crossfire.

The reason I won't try SLI is because of how crappy frame pacing and latency was on my AMD setup in crossfire. It could have been dishing out 100+FPS and it would look like a 10FPS slide show. The only acceptable game was BF4 but there was a memory leak with CF enabled that caused crashes 10 minutes into a game using both DX11 and Mantle. Then there was the horrendous 6+month waits for driver releases to support CF meaning 90% of the time the second GPU was disabled. I ended up selling my second GPU and everything seemed to run so much better even if it was lower FPS.

If SLI is worse, then I have no idea why anyone would even consider multiple GPUs from either brand. Thanks for clearing things up for me that SLI is even worse than that garbage CF setup so I'll never be tempted to try it.

AMD has fixed most of their frame pacing issues and is much better now. but waiting 6 months after a game release to get CF support is a real fear.

DX9 frame pacing yet? I waited the whole life of my 7970s to play Skyrim without stutter in x-fire....moved on to 980s

I said most. biggrin.gif

To be fair, neither side is perfect 100% of the time, but SLI has less bugs and drivers are updated sooner.

They have fixed all those Issues, also Battlefield 4 Memory leak happened on Mantle, if you were using Mantle then you'd have a memory leak regardless of how many GPUs you were using, using 2 just would greatly accelerate how fast it'd take to saturate the memory.

As it stands now, Crossfire Frame Pacing is leagues ahead of Nvidia and I'd dare to say the experience is the same as single GPU, Performance is not only leagues but light years away from Nvidia with DX9 and DX11 so this is a non Issue anymore, also the new Crimson Driver have improved in the Que Size when rendering Frames, so input lag have decreased a ton as well.

I only use AMD for multi GPUs solution now for a reason.

That sounds great, but it doesn't change the fact they are too slow at updating their drivers. I sat there waiting and waiting for driver updates to enable crossfire on games that really needed it for my setup. Even after ditching the second GPU, I didn't like waiting months for simple driver fixes and optimizations for newer games.

It's almost sad how long it takes them to accomplish basic things considering I used to be an AMD CPU and GPU fan. Now I won't even consider purchasing their products after my Phenom II x6 1100t and 7970s served their duty. Maybe the Polaris line can change this, bit I'm having my doubts. This news of them not releasing anything better than 290 performance for under $350 makes it even harder to believe in AMD.
