How would you propose regulations? The only way to do it would be ban all of them and allow only factories to produce e-liquid...
Today everyone can make some in their basement and start selling it online... All of them are doing that... It would be a guess that chinese liquids are kinda factory based, but not that I would risk buying those in first place. FDA approved means nothing to me either.
In a same manner until they ban cigarettes all of their opinions/studies mean to me absolutely nothing.

They could be worse. It's a wishful thinking that they couldn't. To be fair, I didn't have health concerns when I converted to vaping. Pack of LM cost was $7 when I converted... that was my biggest issue. Pack a day was minimum and meant short day. Today the price is even higher than that...
Rest of the stuff was good perks to me smile.gif

However you are semi right, Some flavors can give you popcorn lung over a long period of time. The flavors that do so contain Diacetyl, which not many flavors do at all. That is waht causes popcorn lung, it is what is used to make the butter flavor in popcorn and also in Ejuice. The only flavors affected are those with butter accents which again there is not many, furthermore it took workers many years of inhaling that stuff daily all day long to develop popcorn lung. So yes if you vape custard as your only vape in 20 years you could develop popcorn lung.

I agree, this was what was funny about the heavy metal article and fox 10 put out. Then 2 days later a scientist came out and said ya yall are dumb. The amount of "heavy metals" they found, are very low in comparison. He showed how much they claimed from a vape hit then showed how much you get for every breath you take in LA and it was about 10 times more just by breathing in Los Angeles.

Now I am not saying that vaping wont kill us it may, there may be some repercussions down the line. However I do know I feel better than when I smoked and my doctor says my lungs look better every time I go, so its much better than smoking cigs.

I mean honestly though we are all dying anyway, you are always dying every moment of everyday you are dying.

The popcorn lung stories don't tell the whole story. You posted that Ecigs "give" you popcorn lung which is not the case. There are no reported cases of popcorn lung from vaping. There are people getting popcorn lung from working in popcorn factories. These people are reported to have gotten the illness from breathing very high levels of Diacetyl for many years. That flavor was used in small amounts in Ecigs, but have since been pretty much phased out because of the reports from the popcorn factories. The vaping community came together and urged all e-liquid manufacturers to stop putting Diacetyl in their liquid. There are now only a very few dishonest vendors that use this flavoring because of this. The vaping community overall is a very responsible group. If we find any flavoring, wick, or wire to be dangerous we put pressure on the manufacturers to change their ingredients and they normally all do. If not they get boycotted.

It really is sad hearing what big tobacco and government has made people believe about vaping by using these fear mongering type articles. Do I think it is 100% safe and won't take any time off anyone's life..... No of course not. Anytime you are breathing anything other than pure oxygen you are doing damage to your body. But what it is all about is harm reduction. If there is a chance to change the smoking epidemic and help people quit who otherwise would not we as a country are foolish to ignore it and even more so discourage it. Everyone should embrace it until it can be proven to be worse for your health than traditional tobacco.

I know you point was to not use either. But unfortunately for some that is simply not an option. If it weren't for vaping they would simply still be using tobacco and causing significant damage to their health and in some cases eventually having to live through what you had to go through. If there is even a chance that 1 person would not have to live through that that otherwise would we should all embrace it,not push it away.

I'm sorry I was a bit misleading. It is Diacetyl. Honestly IMHO vaping seems OK I wished that was all I had ever done. As my GF vapes in the same room and it does not bother me at all. Not at all. I'm fine with it. My oncologist says its OK, also.
Burning tobacco takes my breath away. Makes my lungs hurt. My main intent was to reach out for tobacco cigarette users.

I'm currently sick as I write this. I may have sepsis pneumonia, again. I've been fighting it.
It will be the 3rd time I'm in the hospital for my birthday.

Not everyone owns their home and people renting out places rarely let tenants smoke indoors. So I guess poor people will just have to quit their addiction because people are scared of cigarette smoke? There are far more harmful things in outdoor air than cigarette smoke and unless you're smoking near someone they probably won't be exposed to it at all. I agree that smoking is bad, but corporations and governments allowed it and now we have to deal with the consequences.

... and they are dealing with it by banning it lol. I think if you are so poor you can't afford to be living in your own place, you probably shouldn't be blowing money on cigarettes.

OCN is very interesting. Whenever a topic comes up about internet freedom, encryption, net neutrality, etc, people lose their minds in defense of freedom. Literally any other post about guns, cars, beer, smoking, drones, etc, those people are awful dumb wife-beating terrorists who can't think for themselves and need to be banned. And every other hobby or interest is a total unnecessary danger to everyone.

These threads are so depressing. I don't even smoke or vape at all, but it really makes me want to go drive around fast in a car with a big V8, have a cigar, a beer, and some BBQ. Then invite my neighbors over who smoke and treat them like adults who can make their own decisions.

I mean really OCN, I know this hobby requires only a single room with no human interaction, but do you ever actually get out and talk to other people or do other things? Worlds and people exist outside of the computer room. Full of people who have different opinions, priorities, and tastes.

This.....EXACTLY.

I used to smoke. Always struggled with it. It's a terrible habit that I love. Nothing like a cigarette after a meal or sex. Not trying to be funny. I absolutely love it.

I vape now. I'm not going to say it's healthy, but I feel loads better than I did when I smoked. Vaping pretty much got me off cigarettes. Maybe one day I'll quit vaping, but I know I can smell, taste and breathe better than I ever did with cigarettes.

I do enjoy a good pipe every once in awhile though.

Sorry, but it is. "Micron" sized acetaldehyde particles of the size found in vaping smoke are several times smaller than those in cigarettes, leading to the alveoli's inability to use the mucous lining of the lungs to expectorate it. Tobacco smoke has significantly larger particles that are much more easily expelled. The approximate voltage that acetaldehyde begins to form from high-PG juice is around 5.0 volts. While this is slightly higher than many common rigs, this is well below the voltage most enthusiasts use. Vape enthusiasts also have smoke blowing contests that specifically lead to dry wicking.

Many of the most common and popular flavors (peach comes to mind) still contain Diacetyl, and nobody at the vape shops pulled the old stock. They're still selling all of the popcorn lung juice, because there is no law against it.

Vape if you want to. Smoke if you want to. I vape myself. But the pseudoscience and lies coming from the pro-vape crowd are beneath us all. These toys can easily be more toxic than cigarettes, and when misused can be explosive. Why lie to yourselves and everyone else about the risks?
