I5 4690k incoming, need cooler suggestions

Greetings

I am going to buy a new mobo and a core i5 4690k in the coming weeks and i am considering getting a nice aftermarket air cooler.
The price is preferably not above 50 dollar. Here in Europe you can already convert it to Euro and do another 25% with it so you can see it can scale out of control really fast.tongue.gif
I got a Corsair carbide Spec 03 case and planning to get an Asus Z97 pro gamer mobo.
I originally considered to get a CM hyper 212 EVO but considering its age i was curious if anything better popped up by now.

may help if you indicate what stores you intend on buying from so we can see what choices are available to you.

You could be into coolers a tier up from the 212 EVO for less money:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/QUIET-BK010-Quiet-Shadow-Cooler/dp/B00HPXZF2I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1455541309&sr=8-2&keywords=be+quiet+pure+rock
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cryorig-H5-Universal-processor-cooler/dp/B00MBTOY2S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455541475&sr=8-1&keywords=cryorig+h5

Even if you wanted to spend less, the be quiet! Pure Rock and Cryorig H7 both offer better performance and lower noise than the 212 EVO. I'm sure there is a Thermalright offering, also. The 212 was a great cooler in it's day, but that day has passed.

For that budget the new Scythe Fuma is an excellent choice.
IDLE it's really quiet (low RPM) but it also has some nice headroom for overclocking when operating at higher RPM in games etc.

Good call. I often forget about Scythe due to my being in the US.

I have no idea what your CPU clearance is. A couple exceptional coolers are the TRUE Spirit 140 Rev.A and Macho coolers.
TRUE Spirit 140 BW Rev. A is 165mm tall with offset base to clear PCIe sockets 70mm from center CPU. Price is £49.83 delivered with cooling as good as many of the very best like NH-D14.

Macho Rev. B is 162mm tall with only slightly warmer performance and costs £40.72

Well i am using pcpartpicker to make sure my stuff is compatible and the TRUE SPIRIT seems to vanish the moment i add my case.
The 120mm (BW) version does seem to fit tough.
The macho seems to fit as well

So we got the TRUE SPIRIT 120mm (BW) for 38 euro
https://www.alternate.be/Thermalright/TRUE-Spirit-120M%28BW%29-Rev-A-CPU-koeler/html/product/1110495?event=search

and the Macho Rev B for 50euro
https://www.alternate.be/Thermalright/HR-02-Macho-Rev-B-CPU-koeler/html/product/1170066?event=search

Which one of those would be best and if the macho is better is the price/performance ratio worth it?

I also looked at the other suggestions and they either vanished when adding my case or were not on the site entirely am i not sure i want to make a gamble on that tbh.
