Wait....if you dont have internet, how are you posting this? Are you a cyborg 0_0?

I also agree with TF2 and halo. Reach was popular when I was a freshman, spent 2 summer breaks and most of my downtime playing nothing but reach. Good times.....

Its been said but yeah age has something to do with it. Why I think that is: You've been there, done that. I'm kind of running into the same thing. Very few games offer something new, or live up to my standards. I've been gaming since I was 5, and had the original Nintendo. I know what a good game that is well developed and well thought out looks like. But even most of the well developed, well thought out games don't really interest me too much any more. Cause by now, I've just about seen it all, and done it all.

Plus, your tastes change with age. So now I only play the greats, and what appeals to me and what I'm interested in. I'm long past the point of just "giving it a try to see if I like it". If its not clearly going to be great from when I watch the trailer, I'm likely not playing it. At this point I'm only interested in new ideas, and the masterpieces. For example I'm waiting on the new Planescape game because I suspect it may be a masterpiece like the old one. And I'm interested in the new stuff like the occulus rift. Not a new idea but new and far better implementation. You're probably becoming like me. Been there, done that. Just watch and wait for the greats, and you won't be disappointed.

I think when people say age, they mean maturity. It doesn't necessarily have to do with trips around the Sun.

Anyway, for me, it became a spiritual issue. As some have posted, I felt I was losing time with friends and family and God by delving into the online world. Granted, u can have friends online, sort of, but at least part of thise interactions are artificial and engineered.
And since becoming a husband and father, and taking my faith more seriously, gaming has lost its taste in a lot of ways. I can still pick up Sky rim and mess around a bit, or perhaps jump on league of legends here or there.

There is something to be said about leading a balanced life. Connect with God through prayer, bible study, and discussion. Connect with the earth and start a garden, eat something that you helped nurture and grow. Connect with your community and volunteer your time and energy in helping someone. Take time to be with your family and practice good offline communication skills.

There is just so much to it. And gaming is but a small part of it. So when these other areas of life are in order for me, gaming has more appeal. Otherwise, my priorities don't let me enjoy these things as much.

Well said. I think it also has something to do with the fact that gaming, in general, has no personal benefit outside pure entertainment/enjoyment. The time it takes these days to "complete" a game or play online/MMO whatever, takes up so much of your life that you naturally begin to realize that you could spend your time in 100+ different and better ways. Deciding to go back to school to complete a MBA is a big step for me but with the time that I have before work/evenings, I'd rather spend it doing something beneficial toward my family's future. I've noticed in the past 1-2 years that I've become someone that is concern for things that last, rather than short term items. Yes, I might lose some entertainment aspect of gaming but I'll never be able to get back the time I could have had for personal development or pursuing more education/better career...

Very nicely put, Cakewalk! There is so much to learn and improve in, both professionally and in terms of skills and hobbies.
As Napoleon Dynamite has told us, chicks dig guys with skills.

I've been getting out of gaming over the past 10yrs now (30 in July), BUT, a good friend of mine and I have started a 'Sat. Oldschool Game Night' and we get together every Sat. night just to game. It has, honestly, gotten me back into gaming. even if I can't play during the week, I'm still mashing buttons at LEAST one night a week... wink.gif Some nights are less progressive than others, but we've smashed through a few games since we started.

RE0 remake - PS4
RE1 remake - PS4
RE: Revelations - PS3
RE: Revelations 2 coming soon- PS4
Silent Hill 2 - PS2
Silent Hill 3 coming soon - PS2
Champions of Norrath - PS2
Champions: Return to Arms- PS2
Bioship Paladin - Sega Master system
Super Mario Bros 2 (Japanese version, Famicon Floppy Disk System (emulated)

Just to name a few... thumb.gif

Kinda the same, hoping to get into Fallout 4 as I love the othersand have held off while it was too expensive and I worked through a year long project. This will be the first game I've tried to play in a long long time since getting bored, got about 200 games on steam I could play but haven't played more than 1 hour if any at all. I've just got more into cars sadly maybe it is an age thing as I've played games none stop since I was 2 and I'm 31 now.

Might be age might be that games just aren't as fun any more as I still love playing PS1/PS2 games on emulation.

I am age 30, I feel similarly to the OP, but I still play a few games here and there. Most of the modern PC games are pretty bad compared to mid 2000s. Games I enjoyed from that time are (in no particular order) Diablo 2, Warcraft 3, Tribes 2, Battlefield 1942, Desert Combat, Battlefield 2, Rainbow Six 3 Ravenshield, Doom 3, GTA / MTA/SAMP San Andreas, AVP2, RTCW, Most modern games just don't appeal the same way. Yes there are similar games and successor games for all of these but they aren't as good as the originals.
