That's how I did it when I dropped my old 8350 while swapping out motherboards and bent a bunch of pins. It took a long time to straighten them out enough to work, but nothing broke off and it worked perfectly once they were straightened. If you're careful, you can line the rows back up well enough to get the chip back into the socket.

The mechanical pencil trick works well, too. Fixing a CPU with bent pins is never a lost cause. I've fixed worse than what happened to that 965.

That was a good morality boost. Nothing has broken so far, but my hands are cramping up and getting tired.

I just realized we bot have AMD Overclockers in out titles, and we both live in NC, and we've both bent CPU Pins.

The pin that's broken is a TEST8 pin, so maybe it'll still work?

Not necessarily. If it's just a pin that delivers electricity to the chip, it might function just fine without it, because a lot of those are just there for redundancy. Even if it's a data pin, sometimes you can stick a piece of wire into the socket and make the connection that way. Can't hurt to plug it into a motherboard once you straighten them all and see what happens.

I broke 2 more.. I think i'm done with this. Just glad it was a CPU that I don't use anymore. At least I tried.
