GSYNC Screen Flickering with any driver above 345.35

There is a serious bug with the latest drivers. Ever since version 354.35 and above, every driver has this bug. After 10-15 mins of gaming. I start noticing a lot of flickering in the screen, as if the refresh rate of the screen dropped from my default 75hz to 40 hz. It is visible anywhere, even if I enter BIOS it is still there. I thought it was a hardware issue at first and was just about to return the laptop. Then I tried the original driver that came with the laptop 354.09 and 354.35 and they don't have the issue.

It only happens when G-SYNC is enabled. if G-SYNC is off then there is no flickering but with the older drivers the flickering doesn't happen even if GSYNC is on.

I have a Eurocom Sky X9 laptop which is based on the Clevo P870DM-G with a desktop edition of the 980 GTX. This also happened on my previous laptop with a 980M SLI so it isn't a problem with this laptop it's a drivers issue.

I submitted a bug report to nVIDIA 2 weeks ago but no reply:

Amount of system memory: Samsung 64GB 2133 MHz DDR4 RAM

Yuppiee!!! Finally fixed the screen flickering issue!

You see, the only game I was playing these days was Need For Speed Rivals, it seems that the flickering happened after 10 mins or so maybe when the FPS drops to a low level which seems to mess up something with the refresh rate and it gets stuck with that flickering even after a restart and even in the BIOS screen. The issue would never disappear until I installed the older driver 354.35 or 354.09 back.

Someone on the forums mentioned this FPS dip thing causing issues but I actually had no idea that Need For Speed Rivals is locked @ 30 FPS.

So I added the following command line to the game shortcut:
Code:
-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 75+
then enabled GSYNC not only for 3D Apps/Games but for desktop + 3D Apps / Games.

I then played a good 20 mins session of Need For Speed Rivals and my screen didn't flicker! smile.gif
