Wish I could see it.

Have both modes been calibrated to their best though?

Also AFAIK, there are no movies that are 4:4:4 from what little I've read.

I'm willing to learn more about it though.

http://bbb3d.renderfarming.net/download.html Big Buck Bunny is one of a kind really, native 4096x2250 @ 60hz. its short, but a big download. And no, I am not professionally calibrated.

Just reporting back folks. I will say this much, this sony knocks the socks off of the samsung in every department. I thought in store the samsung had a little better picture. Then I got home messed with the settings and now the samsung doesn't even come close. Not to mention the UI is 3 to 4 times faster and more responsive. Also did i mention it plays ultraflix without a hitch. Movies/Tv it is a good step up in the right direction. I thought the motion was very fluid on the samsung. Yet again this thing blew it out of the water. Now as far as pc gaming goes. It is 10 times better. I seen online that it may have a little more input lag but I feel it is actually better. Hands down way better than the samsung.

I really want one of the 7 series samsungs. I think it was the ju7000 but it was 350$ than this one. I could of pulled it off but it would of came out of the $1000 newegg card I am getting tonigh.t(been buying newegg ecards for about a year now saving up for the pascal or volta/ Skylake-e X series build late 2017 lol) I also was looking at a samsung 8500 I believe it was. It was 300$ for the 50 inch. Now please no one come in and tell me I should of get either because I am well pleased with what I have. I just have to weak of a well and might just box this biznitch up and go get one of those samsungs.

I have to keep in mind this was mainly a tv for me and my wife to watch HD/UHD movies together with. I just wanted the option to game on it when she is asleep or is busy. It is weird tho, on this x850c I swear that my fps went up nearly 5fps in all my games. Not sure how that is even possible but I am pretty sure I am right. I was monitoring fps with fraps with both sets and the sony just seems to come out on top. Either way if anyone is in the same boat as I was and not sure one whether or not to get the sony or the samsung. Well at this price range on year of models I would say sony hands down. I gave the samsung 6500 a measly 6.5 out of 10 since it wouldn't run desktop at 60hz and refused to run ultraflix. That and I had a hell of a time with with it doing weird things with the settings on its own. Like it would change color and brightness on its own even with auto dim off. It actually even shut off on us twice and changed input source multiple times. Now the sony I give a solid 8.75 because it does everything The samsung couldn't and still has just as good picture but better motion and faster UI. I will even bump that up to a good 9 out of 10 if the 3d actually works decent.

That brings me to my question. First off I can't tell if this is a passive or active 3d tv? The guys and BestLie said both/ like one said passive the other said active!?!?. I am sure I could drag the box out and do a google search. which I prob will but if some one wishes to answer go right on ahead. The more important question I have is, is the 3d a gimmick 3d like is it decent can i use this 3d for gaming on my pc? Oh and one last question I know I could make the picture even better via a good tuning. Someone want to link me a good guide to tuning this bad boy?

P.S. I should have listened to everyone on here and got the sony right off the bat. Hell even my wife said I should of gotten the sony. You should of been there to see the look on her face when we came walking out of Bestbuy with the tv she said to get in the first Place.

Check Rtings (as the usual recommendation):

says Active 3D.

http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x850c

active:

https://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/sony-lcd-tv/sony-xbr-55x850c.html

Again read and check rtings:

http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x850c

The colors were quite good pre-calibration, and this TV is also able to display a wider range of colors than average. That feature will be good for UHD Blu-rays, and is mostly only found in pricier sets. If you're a movie lover and looking forward to 4k Blu-ray, it's a nice feature to have.

To get 95% of the way to ideal picture for free, use our recommended picture settings.

http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x850c/settings

...

AFAIK, might not apply to your set though since they calibrated for a VA panel. It seems the 55 inch Sony of yours is an IPS panel so probably better head to avsforum and ask for some of the 55 inch owner's settings:

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lcd-flat-panel-displays/1985298-sony-2015-xbr-55x850c-xbr-65x850c-xbr-75x850c-owners-club.html

or

Some calibration stuff you should read and watch:

Read and DL:

Watch:

http://revision3.com/hdnation/calibratepart2

http://revision3.com/hdnation/calibrationpart3

http://revision3.com/hdnation/calibrationpart4

Pretty old but you could get some ideas.

I was gonna get these for 3d glasses. There are active and cheap. I just don't want to buy expensive ones til I know how well it works. You think these will work. Says universal so i hope so but wanted a second opinion.
