Custom Loop CPU Temps 80+??

Thread Starter
How is this remotely possible? I recently picked up a EK-KIT x240 and put it in today. I run a heat test and thermals are hitting above 80* with fans running full blast. How is this remotely possible?

My H105 kept temps below 65 with my overclock.....

I reapplied the TIM using the spread method, which has always worked for me, but no change.....

Have you moved the PC around tilting it in all directions to make sure you do not have a large pocket of air stuck in the CPU block or the radiator?

I would guess air in the block. I would take the block off (not drained, just remove in from the board) and run the pump while gently shaking the block around to get any air pockets / bubbles out.

Do the same with the radiator as well.

Yup looks like air in the block. How can i get the air out? I tried shaking the block. you can see here where the coolant is not hitting the middle of the block

Getting air out of a system can be a pita. You just have to move it around, shake it a little to get that air pocket out. Some people recommend just letting it run out of the system for 24 hours, but I was never patient enough to wait it out tongue.gif

I would still suggest air in the system. Just to be sure tho, confirm the pump is working at the correct RPM. Just to rule that out.

Actually, are you sure the pump is oriented correctly? I think you may have it pushing into the res instead of pulling it from the res.

No its pulling from the res. The pump is running about 4500rpm

I've got a jumper on the 24pin that I'll leave running tonight and check it in the morning. Maybe a drop or two of soap is needed

Excellent. I still say its an air pocket somewhere. Getting air out of a loop can be tedious.
