[HEXUS] DOOM single player campaign to take about 13 hours or more

From the official DOOM Twitter account, we now hear that those who enjoy single player FPS campaigns will get a lavish 13 hours of fun out of the game.

As mentioned by PC Gamer, a 13 hours or thereabouts single player campaign is not to be sniffed at for an FPS game in recent years. Of course this is a rough estimate, which depends on how you like to play. If you are one of those who make sure to expore every nook and cranny in a new game, looking to unearth secrets, stashed weapons and other goodies, you could spend a lot more than 13 hours, those who love to speedily blast their way through situations in a frenzy might get through it quicker.

The new DOOM will feature not just a bevy of iconic and futuristic guns but an in-your-face advanced cutting, thumping, stomping melee system

Also for those who have not yet seen the campaign trailer that was revealed a couple of weeks ago:

They said Rage was 15 hours long so I'm going to say this will be 10 hours.

Either way, idtech games always release broken so I'm going to steam sale this one.

I know I'm missing out on some here but not since the original Crysis has hardware played catch-up to the software. We're lucky now-a-days to get a game that runs well on a "medium" PC set-up, Crossfire / SLI / Multi-threading seem to take a back-seat most of the time. I would love for them to prove us wrong, Wolfenstein was a really good game after the flaws of RAGE ( which I still love and think is better than Mad Max was in some ways biggrin.gif )

I'd love to see this because it's the first game whithout Carmak and with Bethesda ( Zenimax? ) Telling them to scrap it and not work on anything else until it's done will be a telling sign if the publisher was right or not to do that.

To my knowlage the "Cancelled Doom 4" was more a generic CoD / Rage / Killzone / Battlefield type game with groups of humans fighting for survival on Earth, good premise for a Doom game but it genuinely looked like it'd be a ... re-skin of Homefront ( I can't stand that game ). I guess I'm glad they cancelled it for a more, back to roots game. Although I'm not happy about yet another "Let's reboot Doom 1 again" approach, maybe I'll be surprised .. I'd just like the story to progress a bit after all these years tongue.gif

I am really looking forward to this game but I am not sure whether I will be getting it on launch or not. The FPS drops in trailers and the rather questionable IDTech Engine 6 are not very encouraging. Neither am I sure whether I will be playing multiplayer. The single player campaign alone isnt worth $75.

I can't stand these urine filters anymore. COLORS, use them.

By the way if I remember correctly from the last year's trailer there are now instakill melee and QTE prompts, and it seems the campaign will be more "cinematic", like other modern FPS. This isn't classic Doom or Doom 3, this games will be awful.

They should have released the first levels for free like they did with the original doom , I suppose they don't need to do anything like that these days mind you. Took me about 15-20 hours to do Wolfenstein and that felt a bit long so 13 hours seems fine to me. Original doom was much , much longer

I hope they don't bother wasting time on crossfire or SLI either but I do hope it's not released in a poor state. Id tech engine games do tend to be broken on release , only one I can think of that was not bad was Wolfenstein , so maybe best not doing anything crazy like preordering it

Colours? Its DOOM we are talking about. Space stations on Mars and depths of hell. The game is colourful enough, I don't want them to take the same route Blizzard took. StarCraft 2, Diablo 3 and WOW are all way too colourful and oversaturated, I cant even take such games seriously which have dark themes but colourful graphics.

lol no

Doom is FAR more colorful, and Doom 3 is dark but it still has colors. Neither had a urine filter though.

Considering how limited were the colours and graphic technologies when DOOM was developed, its pretty stupid discussing its graphical fidelity and design now, even more stupid comparing it to later games. Pretty sure that if the developers had the technologies we have today, they would have made the original DOOM darker. A darker setting is not achieved just by using darker colours, its the proper usage and adjustments of shaders, shadows and filters. Out of all the DOOM games, the third installment looks the darkest, even compared to DOOM (2016).

I also do not see any urine filter you are talking about.
