Oh god. I just read that AOC thread. Talk about bad....that's worse than the Asus and Acer panels!

And Eizo...well...I guess the # of people on this forum who have a FS2735 is less than 5...

When you have it please make pics from "blb - ips gow" in a dark room with black full-screen in brightness settings 25% 50% 75% thanks.

Yeah, the AOC looks abysmal. I have always had good luck with Viewsonic monitors (using 2 VA panels in my office) and I have to believe the long delay was for good reason. Either to get the most up to date firmware and / or better QC. $699 price point is so good. If it sucks I can just return it and keep my Acer. If I decide to pull the trigger I'll post photos next week if / when it arrives.

**Edit: Order placed, should ship out today. I couldn't resist. $710 total shipped. Fingers crossed. If it sucks I am not going to go through the lottery like I did with Acer, it'll be 1 and done and I'll just deal with Acer and the stupid firmware issue.

Just picked up one of these today straight from Newegg. Unfortunately it's a birthday gift and not for me, so I was only able to briefly check it out and no longer have access to it until the holiday since it's now all wrapped up. I wanted to make sure there were no glaring issues before wrapping it up. Fortunately this one arrived with no dead/stuck pixels.

I only did a basic run through some of the http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ test pages like I always do when first getting a new monitor. This panel was not an immaculate specimen, but a very acceptable one in my opinion (and I'm no stranger to returning 10+ monitors for that perfect one). I was satisfied so far. I did not test anything further than that aside from a backlight test in a dark room - this is where I was a bit disappointed. I didn't have time to delve into the options, but at default brightness (which I'm assuming is full brightness), backlight bleed was definitely noticeable to those looking for it. The gift receiver isn't nearly as picky as I am, so he will likely never even notice and I'm sure he'll be quite happy with it.

I have a picture of this, but I'm no expert when it comes to photography so please take this with a grain of salt. I used an iPhone 5s to take the photo and "focused" on the middle of the monitor. The camera highly exaggerates the degree of backlight bleed - don't get me wrong, it is noticeable to the naked eye, but not nearly as bad as it appears in this photo. I'm even reluctant to post it because I don't want to deter anyone. Keep in mind this photo is at the default brightness! (likely full brightness, but I did not look into the options).

Realistically, it looked more like this to my eyes: I simply adjusted the exposure on the same photo to what I remember it looking like (hardly scientific).

I understand that a pic of the box and a dark photo might not appear to be most credible, but these are the only ones I took and I have nothing to gain or lose from posting or lying. They are real. By the time I have access to this monitor again there will likely be plenty of better/more photos from other purchasers.

TLDR: Seems to be the panel lottery as usual.

How do you have one already? They just came up last night, so you'd need same-day shipping to be able to do these tests. Does Newegg have a retail location I'm not aware of?

I have no reason not to believe you other than the 17 posts, just wondering.

There will always be some degree of BLB luck with these panels, but that first shot looks reasonably poor despite your disclaimer. There is no reason to overreact though as there will be no shortage of impressions coming in the next few days.

I used Newegg's Will-Call service. I'm only about a 30min drive to the pick up center in City of Industry, CA, so I ordered this morning and picked it up myself (same day). It's a last minute birthday present so I couldn't wait for shipping, especially with Labor Day around the corner.

I am new to these panels so I don't know what the standard is on them. I will likely pick up one of these monitors in the future for myself, but I will be more strict with what I find acceptable. This particular one would go back if it were for me. I hope decent ones exist though.

I haven't used this account in years. I'm no regular here! I just came across this thread from Google and thought people might be interested since this monitor is brand spanking new at the time of me writing this.
