[Build Log] Phanteks Evolv Strain

Thread Starter
This is my first hard tubing watercool project, based on a Phanteks Evolv itx case.
Its quite a tight build, as you can see, because of the hdd and pump placement. 1mm between both.

Hardware:
Case: Phanteks Evolv itx
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790k delidded (4.6ghz 1.175v)
MB: Maximus Impact VII
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6GB GDDR5
RAM: G.Skill TridentX (2 x 8 GB DDR3, 1600 MHz, CL7, PC3-12800)
PSU: Sharkoon SilentStorm SFX-L 500W 80 Plus (from previous rig)
HD: Western Digital Digital Green 3TB
SSD: Samsung 250gb 850 evo ssd.

Water Cooling:
2x EK - CoolStream SE 240
EK-Supremacy EVO - Acetal
EK-FC980 GTX Ti TF5 - Acetal+Nickel
EK-FC980 GTX TF5 Backplate (R2.0) - Black
EK-XTOP DDC 3.2 PWM Elite - Acetal
EK-HD PETG Tube 10/12mm
EK-HDC Fitting 12mm G1/4 - Black
EK-Ekoolant EVO Blood RED (concentrate 100mL)
BP Water Tank Z-Multi 100 Inline Reservoir
4x EK Vardar F4-120ER will replace them with DarkSide Gentle Typhoon (550-1850rpm) black edition.

Next week I will receive the hard tubing and the Supremacy block.

I have cutted the top panel for better airflow, and placed a 240 hex fan grill . I have modded the grill to place small neodymium magnets so it can be removed fast. This way I can remove the phanteks tray and attach the radiator+fans directly to the top panel.

This is how the loop should look when finished.

Hex Grill vs Fan filter
I think fan filter looks better

Very nice what you did with the top panel. Airflow was my biggest gripe with the EVOLV ITX. Do you plan on doing anything to the front panel?

Hi Dimensive, I really like the aesthetics of the front panel, I will do some test when the loop is finished with no filters, no front panel..etc. to see the temp behaviour.

what you think looks best for top panel, Hex Grill or Fan filters?

Cool, I'm curious what the results will be. Because of the simplicity of the case, I think the fan filters look better.

Subbed! I am planning on doing some modifications to my Evolv ITX as I know that a 280mm radiator can fit in the top with some proper cutting and removal of excess metal. I'm hoping to modify the top and front panels for more airflow as well. It is such a nice little case!

Edit: Also, the Hex Grill looks a lot better IMO.

Thanks Guys!!
Insan1tyOne if you plan to install a 280mm radiator on top, you will have to remove the tray for better airflow and better fit. If you remove the tray you will have tu cut some of the metal housing. I will post some pics.

I am still waiting for DHL with all the hard fittings/tubing from ekwb.

with the stock intel cooler temps are better with the HEX grill and no filter in front side. around 2-3 at idle.

No problem, and sounds good!
