We would have had a $250 GK104 at launch, the Titan name probably would not exist and AMD would have more than 20% market share? Anything else I miss? tongue.gif

Anyway, I am supporting AMD this year by buying Polaris as long as AMD doesn't get screwy and overprice the thing like they did Fury. tongue.gif

This year will be my first AMD gpu in a loooong time. Can't wait honestly.

I am only half kidding though. Some of you that support AMD so strongly, have some of the older AMD cards. How about some of you actually spend money and support AMD instead of trying to guilt trip and badger guys who buy Nvidia cards every year to buy AMD?

lol well said.

Because I feel they have some good tech on their hands and I have the upgrade bug/itch. Might as well scratch it by helping the little guy and get on the DX12 bandwagon while I am at it. biggrin.gif

Right on. I am planning to do the same thing. I haven't bought an AMD/Radeon card for myself since the x2900..2900xt... I can't even remember the model number.

For me it's because of G-Sync, G-Sync was kind of the last straw of proprietary nonsense on this camels back. If they had made the VESA standard VRR available to it's users when it was released I would most likely stay with them. I have no problem with them having G-Sync as an option for it's customers, I just don't like that they will not allow it's users to take advantage of the open standard.

At this point I don't even care if Polaris performs worse than Pascal.

It's a double edge sword.

They gain a faithful client by supporting and improving older cards like Tahiti or Hawaii, they have granted themselves a secured next buy, in this case it'll be Polaris because it'll take a while until Tahiti/Hawaii cards become insufficient for my needs so even though they secured a client they wont see money from me in a yearly basis, they'll see a big investment every 3 or so years for Crossfire cards on my main rigs, older cards become part of my 2nd family RIG, AMD seems to always play the long game, even with its clients.

If I was forced to upgrade every year with AMD I wouldn't become part of Nvidia's marketshare, not because I hate Nvidia (I always recommend a 980Ti over a FuryX for performance NOW but explaining that there's a possibility it goes away tomorrow) but because I'd just rather buy a console at that point, I don't enjoy being milked, my ancestors weren't cows nor goats, it isn't part of my instincts to let others milk me.

TDP, noise and cooling of the upcoming cards actually play a huge role for what I will pick.
TDP because of the heat it spews out in my case and in the room.
Noise, well because I hate noise.
Cooling, because I want a card that can run in the 60-70s max with air cooling to have headroom for overclocking. Preferably I want AIO but with a more clever design that shuts off the radiator and pump during idle like STRIX cards etc does.
