Same here. I've both.

Plug type is handy for GPU block and rad with free ports.

Pass-thru can come in handy when you need that extra clearance.

Just ensure that the sensor portion or ID will not compromise flow rate.

That's a good point about the flow rate, I hadn't thought about that. I guess I'll just have to decide what I like lol. It should work fine to put a plug in the top of the res as long as it's in the coolant right? From what I understand the water temperature normalizes within a few degrees throughout the loop.

I just skimmed this thread and maybe I missed it, but what is the ambient temp when the loop temp is hitting 41°C. The ambient in the summer here is in the low 30s. My delta T is around 10°C under load (folding / gaming). Point being 41°C isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it depends on other factors. What are you CPU and GPU temps?

The Barrow ones I linked are basically identical to the Bitpower one. There are two lengths, depending on how far you need to reach.

I have the short version in my build. You can see it at the bottom of the flow indicator here.

Room temp is about 23-24C (ish, that's where the thermostat is set. I'm sure it varies up and down a few degrees based on season/when the furnace/AC is running). My case is notorious for bad airflow (NZXT H440), and my top fans are running at 200-300RPM. I was mostly just looking for a non-CPU temperature based way to control at least one set of fans is all. I agree 41C is well within spec, I think the pump is rated to 55C. I don't remember CPU/GPU temps off the top of my head, but I'll check them.

Oh that's neat. I noticed the Phobya plug was fairly long, whereas the Bitspower one was medium and the XSPC one was pretty stubby. Maybe I'll get one of those barrow ones. Your PC looks really clean by the way. I really like the lighting and the placement of everything. How's that Monsoon resevoir? I almost bought one of those for my work PC, they seem pretty neat with all the different parts you get to pick and choose from.

Edit: Didn't have a ton of time this morning, but did a quick test for temps, monitored via HWInfo. Tested idle on desktop and 10 minutes of running around in the New Londo Ruins in Dark Souls (game I've was playing when I noticed the hot loop temps) and they are as follows:

Idle:
Loop: 26C
CPU: 31C
GPU: 32C
GPUVRM1: 26C
GPUVRM2: 27C
10 mins of gaming:
Loop 32C
CPU: 62C
GPU: 41C
GPUVRM1: 37C
GPUVRM2: 38C

The temperatures probably vary within a degree or two.

Yeah, I'm not so worried about my hardware temps (although I realized later that I think I did those measurements with my front filter and case panel off, which may have lowered things by up to 5 degrees. Note: buy case with better airflow next time lol). I just wanted my water temp to drop is all. I ordered one of those plug style fittings, it's on the mail truck headed to my house right now, so I'll install it soon and see how it goes!

In those temps the loop temp is 32°C while gaming (under load). Does it increase more if you game for longer or in that case is that the max loop temp? A delta T of 6°C is great under load. Mine is about 10°C under load.

I've seen it hit 41C after playing for a couple hours at a time, which would be 17°C (about) over ambient, but that was with all my case panels on which are pretty darn restrictive. I installed my new sensor and got it configured though, and it seems to be working well, but I get to into my game and forget to check stuff lol. I'll have to set up a log tomorrow so I can see what temps everything hits.

My loop temp can hit 45C which is still perfectly fine.
