phanteks ph-tc14pe downgrade?

Would you consider that a stupid move? I dont overclock much (maybe up to 4.2ghz) but its a super tight fit inside my pc-case with my current dual tower cooler. And now I am starting to think if this dual tower cooler, is waste of space and overkill for my setup.
I thought about replacing it with either Noctua nh-u14s or Thermalright ib-e x2. And still run it in push/pull config with the current two fans I use on the phanteks.

What is your thoughts on this? I know its all up to me, but would just lile to hear some 2nd opinions.

Get this cooler if you want smaller, its something nh-d14 in performance.

What you mean tight fit? Only difference is space is width. height will be the same.
With the cooler you have, changing will be a small or no difference.

Tight fit as in the pictures. With a single tower solution, There would be alot more space inside. But the phanteks is only 140mm in width. I think a 150mm+ Such as the nh-u14s and ib-e x2 would conflict with the soundcard?

what for? just for the sake of running a smaller heatsink?

Same as everyone, why? Looks like everything fits nicely as it is.

What are you temps and noise levels now?

number 1 rule in computer building... if it ain't broke, don't fix it biggrin.gif

if you don't overclock, then don't spin the fan at more then 500RPM and have a near silent build. why spend money for something that is going to perform worse or louder then what you already have?

from your pic's, it's obvious you value quiet performance so don't waste money that will make your system louder then it is...

if you really want to just throw money away.... send it to me biggrin.gif or you can get some sound dampening foam or rubber mounts for your lian li chassis and maybe cut down on the aluminum harmonic hum they often suffer from.

yup, I decided to keep it. I just wanted the theme inside my pc-case to be mostly black. And my phanteks ph-tc14pe in blue color were back from the days where I had blue theme going on. But yes, waste of money to sell it just to get the black color edition.
I keep it. Temperatures are fine under load.

I know it might seem tacky, but a good black felt marker will make top and visible blue on fins disappear pretty good. And if you don't like it or want it blue again just wash it off with alcohol. biggrin.gif Would need to chnge fans is all.

I've been using PH-TC12DX on my i7 haswell with great success, 4.5ghz @ 1.2v. In this case there is really no need for larger twin tower cooler.
