[DSO] Half Life 3 References Found In SteamVR Performance Tool Files - Page 3

How do you people not realize that Valve does this stuff to mess with you? They have so much fun with it because people go so crazy over it. HL3 will not happen. Ever. Let it go.

Saying it will never happen is as invalid as saying it will. You can't possibly back that up.

Wow, no one has faith anymore in Valve's games.

Even when there are references to Half Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 in the files of the software they release, LOL.

What does everyone think of the references anyway? They're not exactly Vague by any means.

A HEV module is inside of Atlas, numerous occurences of "HL3" within file names and locations, and even references to L4D3, with textures of a character.

Its hard to simply dismiss this when its right in front of us.

Can we please have a rule against HL3 "news" in Video Game News? We've been seeing these rumors (rumors at beast) for almost 10 years now, it's outplayed and simply boring at this point.

GabeN will unleash Half-Life 3 upon us when we least expect it. I believe Valve are working on it; I just don't think GabeN is 100% happy with it yet. If it exists you can bet that it has all the bells and whistles (VR, Vulkan implementation, the latest build of the Source 2 engine, etc). At least, that's my theory.

But I'm not losing sleep over it. I'll be okay if HL3 is never released. Disappointed, but okay....

Pretty obvious this leak was intentional. They wouldn't let something silly like HL3 files to be leaked in a performance tool that anyone can DL. They wanted it to be found and trying to build up hope/hype.

As for those of you that are so jaded that they'd refuse to believe any of this, that's on you.

It'll happen eventually but Valva has no reason to push it before they're happy with it. Personally I think these small "leaks" are generating interest because they're getting ready to announce it.

Your post made me think, is it a leak if it's intentional? I mean the atlas core is an "easter egg" even though it referances something that doesn't exist .. makes me think more that terminology is being used more and more incorrectly everyday. Not that I'm getting on at you Yvese, your post just got me thinking. thumb.gif

I'm at the 'meh' stage for HL3, I was studying in college the computer gaming industy and animation when HL2 was being released. I got the steel-tin collectors edition day 1 and it was my first collectors ed biggrin.gif. Fast Forwards 13-odd years and I hear plenty of rumour and nothing concrete, then again, if HL3 was VR you really couldn't pay me to invest in that. tongue.gif
