Problems setting up Audioengine A2+ speakers

Ok so the title sounds stupid as these should be straight forward plug and play.

The problem is that when I plug the speakers in via the USB cable that goes to the inbuilt DAC, my realtek HD audio software on the pc won't pick it up for some reason. I switch to the 3.5mm jack from speaker to MB an bam no problems.

But I want to be able to use the inbuilt DAC. It shows up in device manager as "Audioengine A2+" and it says it's working properly but no sound!

I've updated the realtek drivers in case that was causing problems but no difference.

I'm hoping it's just something simple that maybe someone knows what it is.

Thanks guy's:)

Joey.

I think that USB bypasses the onboard audio completely, so you have to change your default Playback Device in Windows. I don't know if it's done the same way in Windows 10, but in Windows 7 I just right-click the speaker icon in the Notification Area and choose "Playback devices".

Usb still goes through Windows Audio. But you can skip the Windows Mixer part by setting the Windows volume to 100%. and using your amp's volume control.
